I like science. But I always have the same question on this issue and have yet to see any science. Can someone link to me the real-world study done using the scientific method that shows a planet with the same dynamics of Earth increase in temperature based on the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuels? If not, "Climate Change" isn't a scientific theory; it's just an idea. It may be factual or wrong, but it's still just an idea.

I live on a giant glacial moraine in NY called Long Island.

Where did the mile thick glacier go that formed it?

How? Why? Whom do we blame, and tax, to pay for this tragedy?

CO2 absorbs infrared radiation. So if you put more CO2 in the atmosphere, the atmosphere will absorb more of the infrared radiation emitted by the earth. That means the atmosphere will warm up.

How many more people have to die and how many more people have to lose their homes before we finally unite and agree that climate change is a very serious threat to all of us?
Shouldn't you direct your diatribe at China and India? They are burning far more fossil fuels than the United States.

Apart from the logical fallacy in your first sentence, you are flat out wrong and misinformed.

• December tornadoes are normal:

“The U.S. has experienced a handful of tornado outbreaks in December. The most tornadoes ever recorded for the month occurred in 1982 (100). On Christmas Day in 2012, 29 tornadoes struck from eastern Texas to Alabama, two of which were classified as EF3 storms. More recently in 2015, there were 93 tornado reports for the month after multiple severe weather events devastated the South.”

40 years ago was the most active December tornado month in the US.

Furthermore,

“Prior to December outbreaks, the number of tornadoes that touched down in the U.S. was pacing below the 10-year annual average of 1,251, according to SPC data.”

• Wildfires:

Poor forest management is contributing to recent wildfires. Even so, the recent fires aren’t even close to the worst in our country’s history, which BTW haven’t all been out west.

https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexp...n-worst-fires/

• record drought is now being made up for by record rain and snow

• Texas occasionally freezes. For example, January 1940:

“The 1940 cold snap came with snow on January 22nd, with up to 3 inches reported from Houston into southern Louisiana and more elsewhere in the states. Only twice has Houston seen 11 straight days of low temperatures at or below freezing: January 1983 and January 1940. The 1940 cold is notable for both intensity and duration.”

Meanwhile, the coldest night ever recorded in Houston, with a temperature of 5 degrees, was in January 1939.

Records from the cold snap of February 1899 are still standing:

“The February 1899 cold snap covered most of the eastern half of the United States, and it could be deemed the granddaddy of them all in the South. Several records from that event still stand today, including the coldest on record for Amarillo (-16°), Dallas (-8°), Galveston (8°), and the Texas all-time record (Tulia was -23°, a record shared with Seminole in 1933). In addition to Texas, state records still stand or are shared today from this cold snap in Nebraska, Ohio, Louisiana, and Florida.”

In 1895, Houston received 20 inches of snow.

• British Columbia had previously reached 113 degrees in 1937

• NY gets hurricanes and other extreme weather events. This is not new.

what is the correct temperature of the planet? since you're pretending to possess some sort of global thermostat, I just figured I'd ask.

Extreme weather in one year does not 'prove' man-made climate change.

Even retreating glaciers and a hundred and fifty years of temperature recordings which show undeniably that the climate is warming globally, do not prove 'man-made' global climate change.

Climate change is undeniable but linking it to human activities is the issue at hand which is being denied by many it seems.

Not really up to speed on geology and time are we? The worlds climate has cycled countless times for 4.5billion years. Right now we’re coming out of a mini ice age and soon (on earths time sheet) a larger ice age will develop, just like it has for billions of years. It’s funny to me that humans believe they control over Mother Nature.

CO2. We can reduce CO2 emissions and plant more trees.

The 'correct' temperature would be somewhat cooler than before the industrial revolution. The earth is in a cooling cycle caused by orbital precession and instead it's warming. So, without the warming, the earth would be cooler now than before the industrial revolution which is when the CO2 levels began to rise.

It's not rocket science that burning massive amounts or carbon rich fuels would increase the atmospheric CO2 levels.

One might even argue that we've done ourselves a favor by warming the planet. Which would be preferable, rising ocean levels or advancing glaciers?

Not if we keep warming the planet as we are.

If a simple large volcanic eruption can cause a serious global cooling as what happened in the six century, then why not billions of tons of CO2 pumped into the atmosphere annually? There is no argument that we are raising the CO2 levels. We know exactly how much fossil fuel we burn and the CO2 produced by it and we can and do measure the rising CO2 levels.

Sure, one can argue that CO2 is not a greenhouse gas after all. That science has been wrong for several hundred years in spite of serious science advances in the last century but if one chooses to do so, it would be nice to see some evidence if not proof of that. How hard would it be to prove that CO2 is not a greenhouse gas?
