The US is also busy working on hypersonic missiles. Not sure how close we are to deployment, however.

But both US and Russia have lots of conventional ICBMs. To my knowledge, there is no effective way to intercept these. Especially with MIRVs, you might shoot down a few but it only takes one to get through.

For that reason, hypersonic ICBMs like Satan 2 seem sort of unnecessary. We can already destroy the planet several times over.

OP, watch film of the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in WWII after the nukes were lobbed. That should answer your question. Not for the faint of heart and it didn't end well.

Wow, you were really naive. We could just as easily been nuked under Trump. But I guess what you didn’t know didn’t bother you.

Putin has elaborate underground bunkers that he and his chosen would live in. I'm sure they are well stocked and well equipped. Biden probably has the same sort of underground bunker, too.

Cockroaches tend to survive these kinds of things. That's probably where all of that climate change and Covid money was being spent on.

just when you thought somebody's oft-exhibited stupid couldn't get any stupider, it does.

Have you had time to liquidate all your retirement accounts yet?

Didn't we have these discussions during the cold war??? No one wins once that button is pushed.

And then remember that modern nuclear weapons are 10 to 100 times more powerful than the ones dropped on Japan.

I think we need to do the unthinkable and do it immediately. It will most likely destroy Russia but we may have no choice. It’s totally unethical and inhumane but we may just have no choice. Forced broadcast over all Russian networks of “the View” 24/7.

When I originally watched this documentary about former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara I really thought we were past the threat of a nuclear war. We are possibly closer to a closer to a nuclear war today than we were during the Cuban missile crisis. This 2 min clip is very prophetic

The major lesson from the Cuban Missile crisis is this….the indefinite combination of human fallibility and nuclear weapons will destroy nations
