What may be good for Florida isn't necessarily good for the northern tier of states.
Every senator from every state voted in favor of this bill. Apparently, they decided that this will be good for their respective states, even the ones on the northern tier.
Take the 5 minutes and change your clocks so that we have the maximum of usable daylight throughout the year. It really isn't that big a deal. We should probably do it 3 times but that would send you into coniptions.
I am not sure any of the senators actually stopped and though through this.
I feel like this is something that affects everyone that no one is even aware of or even got to weigh-in on before these clowns in DC voted on it.
The reason do "not have to change clocks" is not a valid reason. Thats just lazy.
Our bodies circadian rhythm is based off our sunrise. I guess everyone is going to be sleeping in until 9am now in the winter????
I hate the time change, always have. Not an early riser at the best of times. Losing that hour exacerbates the issue. Not to mention encouragement of all manner of neighborhood noise and other activities into what should be the winding down hours. Afaik, I think the concept of DST should be abolished. Standard time year-round for me.
As long as AZ can still opt out and stay on standard time, I'm in. Everybody here lives for sunset in the summer and pushing it back another hour would be cruel.
I was curious as to how this would affect AZ. So AZ doesn't observe daylight savings time and since the west coast states move to Mountain Standard Time (AZ's permanent time zone) during daylight savings time, the change would mean that AZ would always be aligned with those states instead of being an hour ahead of them like we are for half the year during the winter months. Sinema and Kelly agreed that in theory, we could switch to Mountain Daylight Time if the state wished to do that.
It passed the Senate with a vote of 100-0, so I imagine it will pass the House too.
Wow that is a rare thing. I lived in AZ off and on for 20 years. I liked not having to deal with it. But it was always confusing for people I knew in other states trying to figure out what time it was where I was.

If you want whatever usable amount of daylight you want, THEN WAKE UP EARLIER! You call us a bunch of whiners (sorry, I refuse to use that k-word you use), but your side is the one insisting everyone has to change FOR YOU! I'd rather just get rid of timezones entirely and go to UTC, it's nothing but an arbitrary number anyways.
I don’t have strong feelings about this as I don’t mind adjusting the clock twice/year, however, I can’t help but to feel like the Senate should be working on things that are much more important than this issue.
