I don't see them as all that smart. All they do is push their Marxist agenda forward and scream at any opponent who opposes them, by calling them bad names, and try to ban them from social media.
It doesn't take much planning to just call everyone a racist, transphobe, misogynist, fascist, etc... But they are seemingly organized, in that everyone on the left automatically knows what to do ahead of time. Any time someone posses the left's agenda, claim victim hood, call your opponents racist oppressors and hurl every mean name at them that you can think of.
It took some Smart and a lot of perks to take over the Media, put all those indoctrinated young staffers into the Government system AND take over Law firms and the Judiciary. Takes a lot of time and long term planning to do that. Bill & Hillary directed most of it - it’s easy to see the ties to them. Mostly Hillary, she was the true Radical Student from the late 60’s.

Important to note that even GOP dominated states allowed far left to take over K to 12 edu, local libraries, etc. They were too busy with dumb legislation on banning sharia law, abortion, Obamacare, etc. Even in deep red areas local schools have become far left to a surprising degree.
They were Radicalized Students in the late 60’s/early 70’s. They became “educators” and Trainers.
These Radicals managed to stay under the Radar in city councils, on Education Boards and in the classrooms for many years. Some entered the Republican Party and became the Uni-Party. The goal always to gain power and MONEY.
Democrats have become masters of manipulation. At a time when the average American person has become a sheep. You also have to remember that as long as Americans are fat and happy, have a second car in the driveway in a decent job they really could care less about what’s in the future. Some of us look ahead and we see a train wreck coming. Unfortunately the average American is in capable of doing that anymore. But do you know what storm is definitely heading our way. And yes, it’s the fault completely of the Democratic Party. That’s what America will awaken, unfortunately we will go through some very hard times. Probably a decade or more. Democrats may have been smart enough to gain control original poster of the set areas but they’re gonna lose them almost overnight.
I hope you are right, but pulling our country out of an economic nosedive will require taking stuff away.
That is political suicide, so America must be killed first, so suicide looks like a more attractive option. By that I mean America must hit rock bottom before the electorate will agree to give stuff up, & support the party that takes stuff away.
We may be closing in on that moment if this inflation keeps running.
That's because holding Democrats to account takes personal resolve and conviction, and you need tough skin, because the leftist mob will come for you. They will seek out your family, your employer, to bully, hound and harass everyone around you until you have been punishing, banned, ostracized and your professional, political and private have been destroyed.
If you are a leftists Democrat, or espouse membership to any of their protected groups, you can say and do just about anything and not suffer any backlash. Your employer will not fire you, social media will not ban, or demonetize you, the press will not hound or dox you, and the screaming mob will not attempt to destroy your professional or private life. Anyone who does take action against the dems will face the angry leftist mob. That's why dems can do whatever they like and gain the false appearance of being in the majority.
so yes, being a leftist Democrat is easy, being a conservative, a Republican, or just being a non-political person trying to live your life, that is becoming difficult. You need to couch your words, look over your shoulder, be secretive, and keep a low profile, or else you might draw the attention of the angry leftist Democratic Party mob.
So are the Dems/Libs no so bright for getting their way in this manner? Or, are Pubs not so bright for not fighting back?

There was nothing racst about questioning the birthplace of Obama anyway. It's just the left's usual race card pulling. They see a racist behind every bush especially where Trump is concerned.
In comparison to the Repubs plan. Their main plan is to spread misinformation. I have to say, its working.
It has been working for a long time too. They captured the media & Hollywood, & began to indoctrinate through story-telling back in the 1930's. By 1947, Republicans went on the attack against the Hollywood 10, who all had strong ties to communism:
Communitsts took over Hollywood through the screen writers guild union, & now we have LGBTQ stuff being pushed in kids programming.
So, do you still think that they not-so-bright? They've been plotting for ~100 years for what we are seeing today.
I think this discussion needs to be split into 2 segments of the Progressive movement....the leaders, & the Sheeple. The Sheeple may be not-so-bright, but imho, the leaders are much smarter than the Republican leaders, or they wouldnt have control of so much.

If you mean that the Republicans should drop to the pandering level as the Democarts then no! It's not too bright for the Republicans to embrace socialism just to gain votes when that isn't in the best interests of our country as a whole.
