Wow, reading that actually made me a little sad - on how Russia could have helped its ppl and the world but wasted it on this stupid beliefs (and hugely missing the idea that Ukraine or any country would have built a national identity in the 30 years of independence).
That's what a lot of Russians are saying now too on TG channels.
A lot of them were weary of all the "goodwill gestures" that Putin's gov. was trying to arrange with the West - some "grain deals" and other trade deals.
So they hope that the threat of any "peace deals" with Ukraine is over, now that the West finally came up with these "children kidnapping" charges as an excuse for Putin's arrest.
The EU, Germany, France, Turkey, Australia, Canada, the U.S., ... have bigger fish to fry these days than India's never ending efforts to get them to help India out.
Perhaps India can convince Russia to give them a hand.

I agree it is disappointing but on the other hand, India is in a tough spot.
India has growing ties with the West, especially Japan, the USA and Australia. And as the world's largest democracy, many people expect India to take a stand against the Russian invasion of Ukraine just like most of the other democracies have.
But Russia is also an old ally of India. And India does not want to break those ties (which include extensive Russian military equipment in the Indian military) and India especially does not want to see Russia decline into being a puppet satellite of China.
So in a real way, China and India are fighting over the influence and control of Russia.

India has been friends with Russia for decades. Indians identify much more with Russians than with Americans. There was a survey on that, which showed that Indians in fact identify much more with Russians than the Chinese do.

That's nonsense. Russia doesn't care about Ukraine's national identity or lack thereof. In fact, there is no national identity in Ukraine, it is a multiethnic country, with two major groups, who obviously can't stand each other.

This development may come as a nasty shock for China, which had suffered a jolt a couple of days when the United States pledged to give five nuclear submarines to Australia as part of the AUKUS deal.
With both India and Australia in line to get nuclear submarines for their respective navies, China may find it difficult to maintain its domination in the Indo-Pacific region in the future.

I agree, they are in tough spot.
Do they hang with long-time ally Russia, buying that discounted oil and military equipment, and doing whatever they can to distract other nations from Russia's invasion of Ukraine in hopes of keeping China from becoming even more powerful?
Or do they align themselves with Western democracies in hopes of them being a buffer against China?
Right now, it appears India is playing two sides against the middle, buying discounted oil from Russia and accepting foreign aid from the West.
How long they can continue this remains to be seen.
Russia’s energy grid attacks, torture in Ukraine, could be crimes against humanity: UN rights probe
Russian forces in Ukraine faced fresh accusations of war crimes on Thursday as UN-appointed independent human rights investigators released the latest findings of their ongoing probe.
No, it is not independent, in fact those are 3 guys, 2 from Nato countries and the other one from a Nato global partner. It is a fake verdict just like the joke on Xinjiang etc.
Torture? Only by the Ukrainians, but those "independent" investigators went to safe parts of Ukraine, looking for people confirming the stories the EU and US wanted confirmed, which is easy given the Russophobia. When you ask a Ukrainian if the Russians did this or that, they will say yes.
They did not go to the Donbass and listen to people there.
And the power grid? Nato did the same. How is it a war crime all of a sudden?
The ICC court is irrelevant, neither Russia, nor the US or Ukraine have recognized that racist, corrupt court's jurisdiction. The US even threatened to invade the Netherlands if any American criminals are brought before that court. And Russia will defend Putin as well. Militarily, if necessary.

I think it's more serious Neuling than you think.
Russians already discussed this subject of the "stolen Ukrainian children" earlier - they already knew that this "Pavlovian reflex" that Western media sources were developing in Western public came in a play for a reason.
So I see it as a signal to Putin to prevent him from traveling internationally.
Oh well, then Russians will replace him with someone like Prigozhin, and he will traveling on diplomatic missions with his companions from "Wagner."
Problem solved.
