Regardless of what you think of Mother Jones, it was the shortest clip that had all of the pertinent audio stripped of commentary. Trump planned in advance to steal the election.

And that's exactly how it played out.

He explicitly asked Pence multiple times to commit an act which violates the Constitution. There are multiple first hand sources that can and have said it actually happened. He was told multiple times by his own people, Pat Cipollone and others, and by Pence that his request was unconstitutional. Pence had his own team research it. Trump knew the plan was unconstitutional. Pence didn't have to obey for Trump's actions to be unconstitutional. That alone violates his Oath of Office to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Again, Pence didn't have to do it for Trump's actions to violate his Oath of Office and to be criminal. If I plot a crime, say murder, I don't actually have to commit the crime in order for it to be illegal. It's called conspiracy to commit. See U.S Code 371. "If two or more persons conspire either to commit any offense against the United States, or to defraud the United States, or any agency thereof in any manner or for any purpose, and one or more of such persons do any act to effect the object of the conspiracy, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

He knowingly spread lies that riled them up and then told them to go to DC on 1/6. On that day he knew they were armed and he told them to march to the Capitol to save the country. He tried to go with them but the SS wouldn't let him. He tweeted mid-riot that Pence lacked courage. When told they were chanting Hang Mike Pence, he didn't care. His staff, family, and friends at Fox News were begging him to tweet and tell everyone to go home but he waited 3 hours to do so. The entire time he was watching the violence unfold on Fox News.

He CAUSED the insurrection and he should be held responsible.

I see where the invisible GOP Twitter account is now calling Sarah Matthews a liar and a pawn.

Lifelong republican, dedicated employee in the Trump admin but now she's a liar.

I recall her resigning immediately after Trump's Tweet blaming Pence for not standing up. Surprised how many good people that were employed in the White House.
Quote:

The House GOP caucus lashed out at former Trump White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews for testifying before the House Select Committee Investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The official @HouseGOP Twitter account labeled Matthews "just another liar and pawn in Pelosi's witch-hunt."

The account retweeted a Jan. 20 tweet by Matthews saying, "Thank you President Trump and Vice President Pence for your service to the American people."

Or, to put it another way, he was derelict in upholding his oath of office.

This was a "Stop the Steal" rally correct? He fully understood that the election wasn't stolen but still claimed it was as did all the other speakers. This was a rally led by a sitting president on the mall the day of vote certification and he asked them to march on the capitol, pretty poor analogy to compare this to a concert.

He was Trump appointee—surprised he lasted this long—I think Biden didn’t clean house as much as he could have because he wanted to be conciliatory — mistake
The Jan 6 would have know about the deleted SS texts much earlier if a Biden appointee was in that role from the get go

The SS needs to be really cleared out—there are so many people who are compromised—
Either with pro-Trump sympathizers who lose their unbiased position or just too unprofessional to function as a top-level security force

Biden better do that ASAP—

Just a poor analogy—
Which just illustrates the seriousness of the 1/6 mob action
The prime act at a concert doesn’t tell the audience to go rob the ticket booth or burn down the circus
