This is what I started doing in real life after I referred to someone as she and was then subjected to a “they/them” lecture. It does feel like lying and also feels like support for binary gender stereotypes to go along with this. I don’t want to hurt feelings so I avoid using pronouns with certain people because I also don’t like lying.
