Sorry, but couldn't see where you made a point, so no need to comment further...

Of course not.

The books were placed in the adult section, and then behind the counter. From the OP's link:

dozens showed up at library board meetings, demanding the institution drop the book. (The book, which includes depictions of sex, was in the adult section of the library.) Complaints began to target other books with LGBTQ+ themes.

Though the library put Kobabe’s book behind the counter rather than on the shelves, the volumes remained available.
Your "better solution" was not enough for the library nannies. What part of that is not in plain language?

Do rich people object to their tax rates? Does their opinion matter?
We do not have the option to not pay taxes. We do have the option to not check specific books out of the library.

Maybe hide the Bibles too? Cant have those non-believers corrupted. Seriously all I can figure those afraid of any mention of differences must have deep seated questions of their own sexuality and gender. Cause others being different just not a threat to me. Different strokes for different folks. People are going to gravitate to those they feel kinship with. Nobody is being brainwashed.

If idiots want to refuse to fund libraries because Little Johnny might see something they object to, well there’s no fixing stupid. Especially without libraries and books.
Why are you so Democracyphobic?

Not to say this is the case here, but "dictatorship of the majority" is a legitimate criticism of democracy. Doesn't mean it's not great, just that it's imperfect at times.

It’s not an elementary classroom, no one is forced to go there.
just because a book is published, doesn’t necessarily mean it needs to be in a library or in the childrens section. activist librarians are not looking at their community as a whole, and making decisions based on wokeness. personally, i have no problem with having explicit books in the library because as you stated, if you want to take it out you can. if not, dont. the way i see it from other people’s perspective is they feel like all this sexuality stuff is suddenly directed towards their kids and they are upset. they acted accordingly. if someone wants the genderqueer book, they can get it in other ways. regardless, my whole point is the library should reflect the community that funds them. the library should have made better cataloging decisions.

Libraries should present a broad selection of reading including LGBT, not "tailored" to a community and they shouldn't have to go "elsewhere". A few parents created the impetus to have the library shut down because of the claims of grooming.

Already been explained the books in question were already taken out of the adult section and placed behind the circulation desk so what's the issue. I wonder how many of these parents monitor their children's use of the internet which can be far more damaging.

people need to recognize that lgbT isn’t the only important community members. people are sick of having it shoved down their throats and they are reacting to being bombarded by it. if we can’t understand why people feel the way they do, more of the same will happen
