According to the NY Times this move will pardon 6,500 people in the states, plus thousands more in Washington D.C. Talk about buying votes!

I'm wondering what "simple possession" will be stretched to include?

Soon it will be hard to break the law as there won't be any laws left to break.

Next up, murder to be decriminalized because of racial disparities against black men.

Drug dealers and distributors even at the local level enable the gangs and cartels the bribe, kill, smuggle and traffic other stuff and people. They are part of criminal culture no matter how it's minimized.

And just like the student loan forgiveness it's unfair to those that did/completed their time with little complaint because many understood what they did was a crime. Others yes the victim card will be part of their persona and will be continuously played.

My intent by this proclamation is to pardon only the offense of simple possession of marijuana in violation of Federal law or in violation of D.C. Code 48–904.01(d)(1), and not any other offenses related to marijuana or other controlled substances. No language herein shall be construed to pardon any person for any other offense, including possession of other controlled substances, whether committed prior, subsequent, or contemporaneous to the pardoned offense of simple possession of marijuana. This pardon does not apply to individuals who were non-citizens not lawfully present in the United States at the time of their offense.

Thanks.

Is that mostly possession in a national park or on federal property? I didn't even know there was a federal possession offense. Or was this designed to charge a dealer who might have 'samples' for their customers.

He's hoping that people will get too stoned to care about how he is wrecking our economy and our country.

Soon people will be sitting on city park benches chugging vodka out of bottles stuffed in brown paper bags and sleeping in makeshift tents....oh, wait a minute, they're already doing that. Never mind.

Doesn't he have better things to do? The country is falling apart, inflation and energy prices are killing the economy, and the illegals have brought in enough fentanyl to kill every man, woman, and child.

But there is demented Biden, fooling around with this piddly crap. 7 out of 10 people think the country is going in the wrong direction and now you know why. The other stuff is just too much for the old geezer to handle.

I am trying to remember what state it was that had legalizing MJ on the ballot a few years ago and then it failed because I guess the stoners were not motivated to go vote. Was it my state Florida? I cannot recall and I am too lazy to try to find it. But it was classic.

I wonder if this will hurt the Democratic Party on the issue of crime? After all, President Biden, with this action, just freed thousands of convicted criminals, in a time where crime rates as one of the top issues of the upcoming election...

Between this and the defund the police actions we'll all be holed up in our homes while the criminals roam free

I think it will increase his votes. People who didn't bother to vote before are more likely to come to the polls now over this issue.

As the county continue to deteriorate and the quality of life for many is destroyed, it will be necessary to have widespread drug use to keep the poors under control.
