Actually, not since the 1920s. Under Coolidge, the House and Senate were also Republican, and that was the last time a fully Republican US government reduced the size/cost of the overall federal government.
They have been entirely full of crap on that particular plank in their platform ever since. So roughly a century of governing in opposition to their platform.

It was a thing for the GOP up until GWB took over. Then the tea party rose up against Obama then faded away. Now the two parties argue over what to spend money on but there is no real effort by the GOP to meaningfully cut spending.
Where did you read that Soros didn’t pay his taxes? And Musk is no liberal.

We are not willing or able to cut spending. Doing so would spell disaster. So what will happen instead is that everyone will keep getting paid, just in worthless money.
