Figures it's in Texas [primitive & dangerous over-reactionaries
Wow. This proves you know so much about Texas!
There's nothing wrong with responsible citizens carrying firearms. Emphasis on responsible. I hope none of these weapons fall into the students' hands.
Whoopde friggin do. Don't try to pretend their are a LOT of people carrying guns with permits that have no business being near any sharp edged object, let alone a firearm.
Care to explain how you come to such an absurd conclusion?
Again I don't want to overgeneralize, but let's be real. There are some scary "educators" out there who are about the last people I would ever entrust with a weapon. Especially near my kids.
If you are correct then those teachers wouldn't get a permit. Chances are not too many people who don't already have one will go get one. The biggest effect will be that the whacko's will not be able to take their saftey for granted.
How are you qualified to decide who can & cant carry a gun responsibly anyway?
That's why our nation is in decline academically compared to Europe\ Asia. The federal government would rather help the people of Iraq than our own citizens [and why Republicans are losing everywhere
Nah, our nation is in decline because we pander to bleeding heart morons.
On topic tho all you people keep saying we cant arm teachers. Nobody is talking about arming anyone. We are talking about letting licensed permit holders arm themselves if they want.
The FACT remains, many districts simply do not have the money you suggest / seem to thing, they have. This is REALITY.
The Clark County School District (Las Vegas) is literally unable to hire the number of teachers they need this year. Many of the schools are in poor physical shape.
In Arizona - one High School has Mold - and there is not enough money to remediate it.
Nevada is loathe to raise taxes on its people The people don't want it, so they don't get much service from their own government. Those who struggle to take care of themselves don't have a very good life there. But it's only been relatively recently that Nevada has a city with more than 1 million in population. (Now the Las Vegas are exceeds 2 million in population.) We'll see whether this "don't tax no matter what" policy can hold up to the reality of the needs of a 21st century metropolis.
Of course the Feds fund local education. The funds pass through the states' own education bureaucracies.
Yep,
they give us back our tax money as they deem fit. Would be better if they stayed out of it. Just as it would be better if school employees had the same rights of self defense as the rest of us & were held accountable when they sit & watch helplessly as kids get mowed down in front of their eyes.
Shame on you guys for wanting to just let that happen.

The Govt is not here to hold your hand. If Nevada doesn't want to tax their people to death thats their perogative. Wouldn't matter anyway if, as you said, the Fed covered education.
Cant see what a population density has to do with it. Do kids become expendable after a certain pop threshold?
Reality Check time: Nevada / City Sales taxes are very high.
Property taxes VERY high. Many recently (last year) saw their property taxes double.
No State Income taxes.
Fastest growing state (or close to) in the nation
Highest foreclosure in the nation
Gaming taxes VERY low (6% of the take) - cannot be increased
Funding for schools comes from the State
Legislature meets once every two years - and for only 120 days - results in very little getting done
The "Strip" is not Las Vegas - results in tax inequities
I read that Florida & California have the highest foreclosures. Why not have a state initiative to overrule low casino taxes?
