Perfect example of what I mean. Please keep the childish posts to yourself or in one of the other 100 threads that the whining and crying are in.

Who knows if the rep party will ever get back to the fundamentals of smaller government and fiscal responsibility, not to mention the hallmark of conservatism -- PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY as in -- we don't care who you sleep with as that is your personal responsibility.

I am not optimistic though. Too many career politicians have too much invested in the party of the higher moral ground, and they either will not or cannot give it up. Plus, the damn fundies keep breeding so much that they have become a voting 'bloc' in and of themselves.

I say screw them and all like minded true conservatives either become independent voters or join in a third party. The rep party is long gone, it is now the Southern Baptist Party.

Who died and made you God?

I said exactly what I meant, and I meant exactly what I said.

The Republicans are now acting EXACTLY the way the Democrats have acted these past 8 years - except for the absence of crying and screaming about "stolen elections."

Will it work for them? I kind of doubt it. But it DID work for the Democrats - which pretty much indicates the intelligence and maturity level of American voters.

The point of the thread was to discuss ways to make the party better, not to point out who di what.

Its just the way politics is now days. remember the 2000 election and the last eight years of democrats doing the same thing. As they say ;what goes around ;comes around. At least they don't seem to be holding up and rejecting Obama;s choices in cabinet like the democrats did;considering all the tax dodgers he has picked.

And that is EXACTLY my point in my first post.

Will the Republicans take the high road, and do what is right for the country in the long run? Or will they take the low road, and behave as the Democrats have behaved these past 8 years?

I'd guess that they'll choose the latter because - even as Obama admits in his book Audacity of Hope - the PRIMARY goal of politicians is to get elected and to get re-elected. THAT is primary. The good of the nation is secondary.

What are some things you believe the party can do to get better?

Not to sound rude but the point of this is not to point fingers at what Obama or the dems do, its about finding ways for our party to get in touch with what is really affecting our nation and how we went from the Grand old party to the GRAND OL JOKE.....
