I beg to differ! I was in Monte Carlo, Monaco last year and although it is a small country(principate), I would say, it is the place I have felt most comfortable in anywhere in the world. No tax on personal income, no capital gains tax, no inheritance tax, pro-landlord legislation. A true example of laissez-faire Economics.

Obama's plan is not "free" health care. It allows those with health care on the market to keep it and works to reduce private sector costs (not take over the private sector) while providing means for people to buy into a universal health care program.

We also do not live in a capitalist society. Never have. It's partially capitalist, but there's no truly free market anywhere in the world.
Lol. Sorry jeeves. HEAR YE! HEARY YE! from this moment on the new and politically correct title of this thread is:

"Will an America with Obama's health care plan destroy our "partially" capitalist society"

May we continue the debate now?

Health Care Policy and Marketplace Review: Mr. President, Aren’t You Just Kicking the Can Down the Road?

Based upon published reports, the Obama “down payment on health care reform” will include:
  • $634 billion to help pay for health care reform over the next ten years.
  • $318 billion of that—about half—will come from tax increases that include reducing the mortgage and charity deduction for high income Americans.
  • Charging wealthier seniors more for the Medicare Part D drug benefit—as is done for Medicare Part B now.
  • Cutting Medicare HMO payments by $175 billion over ten years.
  • Reducing Medicare hospital payments by $26 billion over ten years by bundling inpatient and outpatient reimbursement to include the 30-days after discharge.
  • Cutting Medicare hospital payments by $12 billion over ten years for readmissions resulting from substandard care.
  • Requiring drug makers to increase the rebates on drugs sold to Medicare patients from 15% to 21% saving $19.5 billion over ten years.

This week, CMS estimated that at present trends annual national health care spending would reach $4.35 trillion or 20% of GDP by 2018.

I wonder what "high" means?

Hey, Dumbocrat - Why didn't you stay in Monaco if you were so comfortable? That way you would be able to keep everything for yourself.

IMHO having a government managed health care system (preferably paid for with a high deductable highly progressive income tax) would eliminate the biggest deterrent to self employment in this country.

I have to pay taxes to provide free (socialized!!! government!!!) K through 12 education for this lowlife's 14 kids.

At least with socialized medicine, I'd get some benefit out of my tax dollars for a change.

I cant imagine the government doing any worse of job, seriously.

Rather than wonder, why don't you look it up?

Better yet, why don't you just get yourself one of those outrageously compensated CEO jobs yerself.

No! Give them away, it will reduce our healthcare costs since the smokers will die much younger and quicker therefore not burden the system.

Is this something you just dreamed up or do you have some facts to back it up?

Communism, socialism, collectivism..etc. It's not that they are bad things on paper at least. They are, what I would consider, the perfect tool for the beast. I know it sounds simple. The beast forms in the narcissist (in some cases as we have seen throughout history the sociopath) that first realizes he is standing in front of millions and has total control of that crowd. It can happen in religions, governments, cults...etc. It's not that total equality is not admirable. It is not realistic and the examples laid out through history proven that point. If you think America can't fall prey to a narcissistic leadership you are not being reasonable. So every freedom you willingly give you provide a much sharper, more accurate and more efficient than ever tool.

Sometimes answers are simple. The answer into why you want all the freedoms you can get is you can't expect or rely on another fallible human to provide for your welfare no matter how many plans they can plan. If you do you can only expect the erroneous mistakes that come with that choice. If you think religions are cults, watch America during elections, all googlyeyed at someone they barely know and should be thought of as equal to. Instead we idolize them feeding even the most calm narcissist.
