As far as government funds, our state budget has a surplus, yours has a terrible deficit.
Don't forget we send more tax dollars to the feds every year than we get back in federal programs, stimulas, etc... Which means that we are supporting other states. nuf said

Exactly...California probably (I don't know for sure) gets back MORE than it sends.

If we seceded and became our own country, yes the state would have to impose new taxes, but they'd be far less than our tax burden as a part of the U.S. And every dollar of it would stay here.

Sorry, genius! but Texas gets far more federal money than California & New York combined. Welfare state like all the other Southern states living off Yankees.

First, you need to provide a link. I don't believe it for a second.

Second, you never answered my post addressing your state's budget problems and how terrible of an impact the recession has had on your state. Do me a favor and at least admit that we win on this one!

I should add that I eventually became someone who was not so fond of Bush. I am, however, a Perry supporter. Don't equate the two as you foolishly did in a previous post.

why don't you take a gander at the most popular state forums on this site. it appears all those "yankees" are running as fast as they can for the south. seems like the north needs the south a hell of a lot more than the south needs the north. any time you get tired of looking foolish, let me know, and I will stop my ownage of you. you also might want to check your welfare stats kiddo.

Oh please, Google it. Let's see, California has a state income tax of like 10.25%, Texas has none. CA & NY are the welfare states. Which state is about to go bankrupt.......CA. Yes that's right.

That means the dems should be able to take Texas in 2012 assuring that a democrat will always be in the White House.

Wrong....the dems will see how much better the repubs are doing on the state level and will vote red.

Not to mention the fact that the majority of the Yanks moving here are more conservative than those staying up north.

they have to go somewhere after liberal policies destroy their home states. look at what labor unions did to the rust belt. liberals don't reproduce that frequently though, so that might be a problem for you. all liberal women are single, ugly, and angry, and all liberal men are fruits. kind of hard to pass that down when you can't reproduce.

The common complaint in California is that we get very little back from all that is provided to the federal government [per CNN report yesterday -maybe someone will look it up].

Second, when a state like California provides subsidized medical coverage well beyond any other state [Medi-Cal], generous employment benefits, strong union support, extensive leave coverage, social programs for underprivileged children & disabled, etc. We also have "sanctuary" cities [Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berkeley, etc] to help immigrants, etc. These expenses can not be maintained without federal assistance.
