My question is, do Democrats actually care about the demographic that consistently votes for them?

Are they doing this on purpose? Because it really seems so. To go 40 years voting for a party and have little to show for it would probably make me question my voting patterns.

Discuss what?

You care about how blacks are treated all of a sudden?

Why Do Democrats Treat Blacks So Bad?

Because they only need their vote and they can get that by only giving them some government jobs and welfare.

Then why do blacks that don't work for the government or collect welfare still vote Democrat?

Why do black communities seem ignored by the economy? First, governments don't create job, private investment creates jobs that drive an economy. When banks "REDLINE" inner cities and refuse to invest in neighborhoods, those neighborhoods decline. Redlining and this country's money interests actively bypassing black cities leads to decline. The choice by right wing money to avoid invests in a given city is easier when those cities elect a democratic government. In essence, punish them for not voting with the GOP.

It is an old story, the GOP broke ties with black shortly after the civil war when blacks were gaining too much political power. The Lily White movement is largely credited with driving blacks out of the Republican party during the early 20th century, setting the stage for their eventual support of the Democrats.

Maybe they see the dems as their best hope. The bigotry and hate being spewed by the national GOP is scary even to me. On local issues and candidates I am a republican, national their take on the issues seems like something straight out of the roaring '20's. I am in the process of rethinking my support of local gops because might be taken as supporting their national agenda....

Not so much. What actually happens is that private and magnet public schools are available for the poor whose parents care about education. That leaves behind the rest to populate the local school....whom don't care, whose parents don't care etc.

That's how they do it in Chicago. One public official got in trouble recently for bluntly stating something along the lines that you really have to tier the schools so the kids trying to get ahead do so and aren't drug down by the "failures".

He's 100% correct, just not politically correct.

Red-lining is a lame excuse.

You put a business in a bad neighborhood you have to deal with higher rates of crime, have on-site security and so on. THEN if you aren't black you get accused of overcharging and preying on the blacks.....which got several people killed thanks to one of Al Sharptons hate speeches re: Freddies Fashion Mart.

Al Sharpton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oh, and that's when you aren't called a blood-sucker, parasite etc. and get your business burned to the ground because some cops thousands of miles away beat up Rodney King.

Seriously, there is a reason you don't see people clamoring to do business in bad areas and it's not that these people don't want to make a buck...they'd open businesses in a heart beat but it doesn't pay-off.

That's great for blacks who wish to be politicians.
