Their job. And they didn't find anything.
Well, according to some, they knew all along there were no WMD in Iraq. That just doesn't make much sense, considering they never claimed that and also appeared to be looking for something.

So, the world (including the UN) was basically duped by that idiot Bush? Is that what you're saying? All of a sudden, he grows the smarts to fool every intelligence agency around the globe. Can't have it both ways.

The world thought he had WMD, based on their very own intelligence. That is a FACT and indisputable. Do you deny?

The inspectors did not state that.

Just answer this very simple question; WHAT were those inspectors looking for? If they were so sure he didn't have WMD, why were they out there, day after day, going to various military facilities, peeking into every nook and crannie, begging for more time to find the WMD? WHAT were they doing?
Institute for Policy Studies: UN Inspectors Find No Evidence of WMDs in Iraq

UN Weapons Inspectors Set to Ask for More Time in Iraq: Meanwhile U.S. Threatens to Go to War Alone and Unleash Massive Attack (Possibly Nuclear) On Baghdad

The inspectors were there because that is where we and the UN wanted them after rumors surfaced claiming Iraq had WMD's. Rumor is what brought those inspectors to Iraq, and nothing more. Wonder where those rumors and whispers in the night started. And after they had been searching and found nothing, they asked for more time. They wanted to be sure before they gave a final report. But we couldn't wait for that because we knew our intelligence was phony and that there were no WMD's. It was all a lie. And we have pretty much been told that now. So why would you continue to defend the liars. They knew they lied to us folks, even if they tried to skate around it and blame the source of the intelligence. This is why Mr. Powell stepped down from his postion followed by Rummy. They were both key influences in getting this war started. Everyone thought if Powell said it, it had to be true. And they both knew when it was time to get out. That way, they could avoid the backlash while protecting the President. Face it folks, we were sold a lie.

Jeez.... They were looking for WMDs. They didn't find any. They wanted more time to complete the job. They didn't get it because if they had been allowed to finish and no weapons were found, there would have been no excuse to invade Iraq.

Not rumor. Intelligence data from around the world. The Un and other countries were begging Saddam to give them up - if they didn't think he had them, why would they do that?

The world thought he had them - that is a fact you can't escape.

I will deny? Mainly because you are simply quoting what they told you on the news. Oh, we got this intelligence from a couple of different agencies. Really, we did. Then conveniently, we find out it is all a big mistake. Come on, you can't tell me you really buy that. The intelligence, the WMD's, freeing the Iraqi people, all lies. Freeing Iraqi oil while helping OPEC secure a renegade country who refused to play by their rules. Priceless.

Has that conspiracy theory come to fruition?

How do you not get this??? They were looking for them because that was their job. It was their job because the point was to make sure they were all destroyed five years (IIRC) earlier as the real intelligence obtained from one of Saddam's sons-in-law indicated.

Because it was a big game my dear. Come on, the evidence has been laid bare before you over the last few years. Just accept this was a planned war, a hostile takeover if you will. The world did not buy the lie hook, line, and sinker. The only reason we did is because we were scared and mad. Any other time, our investigative reporters would have smelled a rat and called bull. But since our "free media" only reports what they are told these days, we got fed our daily does of propaganda and we became ravenous for war. Its simple. Engineer a problem so that you can administer the solution which you already had waiting for that problem.
