Yes, we are taking in both sides, but you seem to be taking the side of the police as the gospel truth. The police can say whatever they want; it doesn't mean they're being completely honest.
the police report is filed. I have seen Texas bars. We are bunch of drunks.Drunks act stupid thats why they are called drunks. I am sure one drunk was stupid and his buddies came to his aide proving they were also stupid. The bar was given two days notice that this check was coming
That's all I was trying to get at. Some here automatically assumed the 1 gay person with injuries was just sitting there minding his/her own business when some cops jumped him/her. Not only that but now its turned into "they sent the gay people to the hospital with a bleeding brain". Now the number has jumped from one to numerous. Then the "they only raided the 2 striaght bars so they could go to the gay bar and bash people for no reason".
I find it very probable that the one person that ended up with injuries was out of hand.
So, you say that we automatically assume he was innocent in one breath, and then in the next YOU assume he was "out of hand"???

Do I think they went there with the intent to physically beat people? Probably not.
Do I believe that the excessive police brutality that ensued was the result of homophobic attitudes of the officers involved? Definately.

Another article on the raid.

Fort Worth City Council member Joel Burns told protesters he has requested that the police and liquor commission conduct an investigation into the conduct of the police officers and liquor agents on whether the Rainbow Lounge was singled out for harsher treatment than other establishments.
“A thorough internal investigation into the allegations made is being conducted as all allegations against officers are investigated,” the police statement says.
They are doing an investigation. City councilman Joel Burns, FYI, is gay and an elected official. So, no, everyone in Fort Worth doesn't hate gays.

Chad Cox, a bartender for another Fort Worth gay bar called Best Friends, said he was not aware of any complaints of police mistreatment of gay bar patrons in his club or in other gay establishments in Fort Worth.
He said he has worked as a bartender in mostly straight bars in Fort Worth over the past 20 years and has routinely observed public intoxication arrests.
“In Texas you can get a PI in a bar,” he said. “You can get a PI walking from a bar to your car. If the cops believe that you’re drunk, they can give it to you any time. That’s Texas.”

And those are just more reasons why I wouldn't live in Texas. And I don't even drink.
as the police report stated, the police entered at the request of the TABC to check a liquor license. This bar was one of three that night. The owner was informed two days before it happened. They were not called to look for drunks read the police report i posted. I am positive if anyone straight would have done the same thing they would have been arrested also. At least two had to go to the hospital for alchol poison. Read the police report take in both sides
I'm a bit confused as we don't have these sorts of raids where I live.
What is a liquor license check? To me it seems like a bureaucrat could spend five minutes at the public records office to make sure everything is in order with the license.
I have no problem with the cops doing there job of checking the premises for violations. I do not know what happened when they got there. Plenty of different stories. I ALWAYS have a problem with excessive force by police officers. It is pretty hard to know what happened here. How did the person end up with a cracked skull? Where they hit over the head with a nightstick? Or did the hit their head on the bar, a table, chair, etc. while falling after being involved in a scuffle with at cop who was trying to arrest them? Without knowing the answer to that, it is impossible to know if the cops were in the wrong or not.
I just get tired of hearing how cops are "targeting" groups (gays, minorities, etc.) when something bad happens to someone of a "group". Cops do horrible things to people who are not in these groups on a regular basis.

Southerners love being excessively punitive. And yet crime rates are highest in southern cities.

It is not a raid. TABC gave the owner two days notice that they had planned on checking. The TABC can request as many officer s as they want. If they wer egoing into Billy Bobs 9 would not be enough.

Whatever you want to call it, what is a "liquor license check" and why does it require 9 uniformed officers and a paddy wagon?????????????
I'm being serious in asking this question. The concept is foreign to me.
