How about the fact that they have run them broke!!
This is NOT a dem or republican thing either; it's just government in general.
They have NO CLUE how to run anything.

Health care will be destroyed if the government takes it over which I believe is still Obama's plan; at least his wishes because he's a socialist.

I think that this thread is proving that Republicans and the Obama haters have no answer.

They have no alternative proposals for true healthcare reform. Yet it doesn't stop them from criticizing a man who is actively trying to make reforms.

The Republicans are like the frat boys who passed their tests by looking over the shoulders of the smart kids in school.

Sort of explains the Obama hatred of many; we have no problems, therefore nothing needs fixing.

Lastly, I have no faith in an entity that has run medicare, social security, and VA hospitals so poorly about taking on an issue such as health insurance. I simply have no faith in the government. And that opinion applies to government, not simply Democrats. I would have zero faith in the government playing a major role in health care if it was sponsored 100% by Republicans.
Insurance can be and is sold across state lines now. That's why I don't understand this argument. The ins. companies want to be able to get around the insurance regulations in each state and sell "stripped down" policies that basically take in money and pay out nothing. Have a claim? Not a covered benefit, ad infinitum.

Have people go over State lines to get coverage so more competition will make prices go down.

Have lawyers with ridiculous lawsuit thrown out of court so no defensive medicine has to be given. (My mom got 6 X-Rays for a broken nose...2 would have done the same, 1 from the front, 1 from the side!)

Go after medical fraud, which saves millions!

Connect doctors offices to each other so another doctor doesn't need to redu an already taken MRI, X-Ray, etc....saves millions!

Don't insure illegals and people who don't want coverage but earn above a certain amount per year...let them be free to choose and let them be responsible if they won't be helped in case they need care. It is a free country.

Ins. people who can't afford it and let them proof it, if they committ fraud, they have to pay hefty fines and/or aren't eligible for ins. anymore (just the person's signing it...not their kids)

Medicare is so wrought with fraud and abuse the feds even have a special program to get back some of the money.

The Department of Health and Human Services And Health Care Fraud and Abuse Control Program Annual Report For FY 2000

Stop Medicare Fraud
That is a major distortion of the problem. The problem with Medicare abuse comes from a few unscrupulous providers and patients trying to bilk Medicare. It is not that Meidcare is fraudulently run.

Private insurers have to deal with this problem as well.

Not true! it isn't sold across State Lines, it is a different company although the name can be sounding similar.

Sounds like an argument for total conversion to EMR!

You can never forsee the future. Unless you have Ft. Knox available to you, you need insurance.

THis non-issue has to do with state regulations. The big insurers want to subvert state regulations, to sell a policy that pays out virtually nothing.
