I see nothing at all wrong with using an official estimating tool to gauge an approximation of the crowd. You keep saying the crowd was loose - that is not so, based on the pics I posted and the videos taken of the event - after it started.
Include in those estimates the massive march from the WH to the capitol that took three hours to pass. The video is an excellent representation of that crowd and there is no doubt - 12 blocks full of people - would be hundreds of thousands.
