2. Everyone knew the economy was headed toward collapse during Bush's time. If you're trying to blame Obama for the unemployment, you should study economics and get back to us.

3. Obama has brought our country into the 21st century with his new policies and direction. It's been great to see, but some can't appreciate it because, so far as I can tell, anything Demcratic is "bad" by the group of extreme partisans who hang out here 24/7.

4. Spending money in a crisis is pretty universally accepted practice and has returned positive results (as well as negative in some situations). Driving a nation with a surplus into debt, as Bush did, not so much. Again, an economics class would do you well.

5. Is spending less than a day to try and bring thousands of jobs and tourists to the struggling industrial heartland of our country a waste of time? Take your partisan blinders off. Seriously. The Upper Midwest could have really benefited from this rather than the hateful, selfish attacks everytime Obama tries to do anything but cut taxes and watch from the sideline because, supposedly, government is always "bad" (or so the propaganda tells us).

6. The mayor did go, but he brings no weight to the decision. Heads of State have influenced the IOC in the past. There was a precedent.
1-I agree politics can be very childish but this thread isnt about a pleasure trip. This thread is about Chi town not getting the olympics

2-Yes I am blaming part of the unemployment rate on Obama for a couple reasons he was a senator -He signed the stimulus into law . At some point and time some of you are going to have to accept that many many americans now say this is Obamas economy. The blaming Bush isnt going to keep working.

3-OMg what has Obama done to bring us into the 21st century.

4-A surplus that was on paper a budget that if followed. But thats neither here nor there now. Why arent you pushing for Obama to balance the budget instead you sit here and defend Obama wasting money to take this trips.

-Dont you get he could have been doing something else that is more important then this and NOT costing us money? Obama didnt carry any weight either since America was voted out 1st.

-Why are you in favor of Obama wasting money?

Why are democrats trying to make excuses as to why Obama wasting his time and OUR money is a good thing

Your entire thread was Bush did it so Obama can do it also. Thought Bush was bad?

Well, I take that back, he did carry a good deal of weight.....he carried Michelle......talk about pounds!
Yes, there's the old American spirit. It's a long shot, so why even bother trying? People will only mock you and call your extremely fit wife fat.

Seriously. This country is going off the deep end.

Again, the entire thread was not saying Bush did it. My only point was that the same people who supported Bush's vacations, ignoring of the economic indicators, and utter failures as a leader are now attacking Obama for trying to fix problems set in motion decades ago.

It's hypocritical. Spending to fix problems is what's done, and spending one day attempting to bring money, tourists, jobs, and the global media to the industrial heartland is a pretty cheap way to do it.

You said he carried more weight than the mayor. Apparently not. Obama did no good. We lost.

The country went off the deep end when it elected the Jeremiah Wright follower known as Obama.

YouTube - Rio (Official Video) Duran Duran

Looks like the OOM show didn't work out. I thought that Madrid would have gotten the games. Rio has a lot of work to do ... like hiring non-corrupt police, that would be a good start.

LMAO!!! This song has been in my head for the last few days, thanks to all the media coverage on the announcement! Great song though, still, after 26 years!

Obama’s Olympic failure will only add to doubts about his presidency

Quote:
Chicago’s dismal showing today, after Mr Obama’s personal, impassioned last-minute pitch, is a stunning humiliation for this President. It cannot be emphasised enough how this will feed the perception that on the world stage he looks good — but carries no heft.
This was an epic failure for the community organizers of Chicago, as well.

It's not a reflection on Obama.

So Rio won. Good for them. This is a first for South America.
It's not like we haven't hosted olympics before.

Geeze people...the olympics pick is global.

BRIC .....China had theirs, now Brazil. These are the new emerging countries like it or not.

It has to be safer than Madrid, right? I'm thinking terrorism not crime.
