YouTube - Obama Is Going To Pay For My Gas And Mortgage!!!
Well, if ignorance is the subject, her comments are as appropriate as any. As to xenophobia, racism etc, just as appropriate since she represents a stereotype that the white nationalists represent as the norm among her demographic. Fuel for the fire, as it were. Viewpoints such as hers just lend credence to groups like the AB, neo nazis, Klan, etc. Ignorance begets ignorance in the end. Thanks for the link , by the way.

Did you listen carefully to the last few words spoken in that YouTube you posted?

I have some expertise in "listening" and the last few words I heard were "Obama's .... will HELP me." I didn't hear anything even close to "Obama's going to take care of her." Also, the quality of the audio is a problem because there are a couple of words which are garbled. BUT, listen again and you, too, will hear the "will HELP me"....words and not the "will take care of me."

Actually, what she said (after I listened again) was "If I HELP him, he's gonna HELP me." Could she possibly have been thinking about and referring to Obama saying that he would NOT raise taxes on middle class and poverty level folks in this country, for example? CLEARLY, the words "If I HELP him, (get elected) he's gonna HELP me," do not in any way mean she expects Obama to pay her mortage or for gas in her car. You guys are a riot. LOL Sounds to me like she is (idealistically) expecting to be given a fair shake if Obama is elected because she, like many others, probably perceived that an Obama Presidency would signal at least some concern from the White House for the problems of low-income and middle-income people in this country, which would be quite a CHANGE.

She says, "I don't have to worry about putting gas in may car or paying my rent any more, if I help him he's gonna help me". Yea, she's saying that he's going to make life free for her. You don't understand my other post? I thought it was pretty plain. This type of person is the type that racist groups tout as being the norm among blacks. The waiting for the free lunch bunch. The "Obamas gonna make life a bed of roses for us" types. This woman, single handedly, (and unwittingly) threw more kerosene on the race fire than Jesse and Al have done in the last ten years.

YOU put the period in the wrong place. Those are two different and complete sentences, and the punction makes a lot of difference in this case.

Listen and read the typed text below at the same time and you'll hear exactly what she said. This is what she said VERBATIM:

"It was the most memorable time of my life. It was a touching moment BECAUSE I never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know, if I help him, he's gonna help me."

In other words, she was pretty excited about Obama being elected......FIRST BLACK PERSON ELECTED PRESIDENT, (that's what she meant when she said she never thought "this day" would never happen). Also, do you see the difference in the context when you punctuate it properly? A missing word or incorrect punctuation can change the meaning entirely.

THREE separate sentences: "I won't have to worry about putting gas in my car. I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage. You know, if I help him, he's going to help me."

CLEARLY, this woman was thinking in terms of Obama having concerns for poor people and minorities. Clearly she was anticipating that her life as a minority, single woman would be better by having a black, liberal appearing, President than she had experienced previously in her life. Only a very biased person would/could possibly think that she meant that a President Obama would literally pay for gas for her car and pay her mortgage, as well as do the same for ALL BLACK PEOPLE. The woman was excited, and actually was very articulate given that it's very likely that she is NOT a public speaker.

Also, key words here are HELP, HELP. Helping here does not mean taking care of her by literally paying all her bills.

I dont know. I saw VERY few 'happy and proud' conservatives. What I saw was many angry people who felt some aspect or another about Obama (could be his background, his parentage, and the big one...his half race) constituted a 'loss of real america'. Somehow they felt that his election = America was no longer the America they lived in.

Why? Who knows. But 'proud'? Absolutely not.

Anytime a white person so much as steps on a Black person's shoe w/o saying sorry somewhere in America, there is a 50 page thread detailing how Third Riech stromtroopers are decending down on America's cities and towns killing and destroying all that is non-white.
True, the race argument comes up. But at the same time, looking from an objective view point of a guy with few black friends and plenty of white ones, and whenever the topic of 'race' does come up, it usually goes along the lines of "Im no racist...but I dont want to live near those blacks/mexicans" or "Im not a racist, I just think they are all criminals..." or "Im not racist, but I wouldnt hire one of those 'ghetto/barrio' people" etc.

And whenever confronted by it (usually when their conversation is overheard by a person fitting into the group being mentioned), the first thing the white person does is says "hey I didnt do anything bad to your ancestors, stop blaming me, how dare you bring up the race card, Im not racist!" Even though probably 75% of the time, it was a case of racism.

No one thinks of themselves as being racist. Not even white nationalist, black nationalist, hispanic nationalist, whatever. But we'd be lying to ourselves if for one second we said our actions in different social situations arent motivated by race.

Best example? THIS forum section, along with the immigration section. (See links to the standard thread title).

Wanna have a discussion about race? How about we drop the BS and look at the truth here: This all started once Obama started doing badly in the polls. If he starts to do well again, then everything will subside, once again.
So, in making that statement you admit that you consider discussion of Obama synonymous with a discussion about race.

You dont say "Lets talk about baseball" and then bring up the latest hockey score unless you consider them related topics.

Me on Obama =
1. Its still early to judge.
2. Hes no different than MOST other politicians in office, dem or repub.
3. The same interests have their hands in his pockets as did they with Dubya, and Clinton and Bush I and Reagan, and Carter etc etc. Nothing changes there.
4. The one thing I WILL give to him is that 99% of the arguments being made against him are utter, and almost comical. Screams of communism, socialism, subsidization etc...all with absolutely NO source.

Yahoos crying that hes taking their guns away, yet no legislation has come forth. Yahoos crying about public health care, yet anyone whos read the bills sees that there is no public option whatsoever. Yahoos crying about soviet armies and killing granny and other nonesense.

Honestly, the polls are showing less than 20% of Americans consider themselves republicans, yet 50% support what Obama is doing (which IMO is nothing). Conservatives are making themselves look crazier and crazier and thats a BIG turn off to middle america.

Huh, people, the masses and individuals who believe everything they are told on TV, radio and online are who scare me. I have to admit, most humans on this planet, to date, scare hell out of me and I stay clear of them as much as I can.

This is truly the age of Trust No One.

how do you figure that not worrying about high gas prices & being able to keep the house they bought = a free ride & an easier life for black people?

white people wasn't worrying about high gas prices & foreclosures & looking to their elected politians to make things better so they can live out their american dream?

You know, Mr. Tindo, Obama has asked us to have a conversation about race. Subsequently Eric Holder told us that we were cowards for not talking about race. So people come in here and put their cards on the table face up so everyone can see them asking for a discussion. Then you come along and lump us all in with the extreme element in this country.

I say, what the he11! Hey Mr. Holder, blacks in this country don't appear to want to have a conversation about race unless they can be the ones who decide what the topic of conversation is. Usually that amounts to how whites are racist. Blacks don't seem to want to have a conversation about black crime or black illegitimacy or black parenting or black academic achievement or other problems in certain segments of the black community.

Blacks get real defensive and combative. They will claim that we are denigrating all blacks in spite of repeated attempts to explain that we are talking only about certain segments of the black community. They use the claim that we are talking about all blacks in order to shut down the conversation.

We are not extremists. We are American citizens who are getting real tired of being called racists for every black failure and evey black who feels he has been disrespected whether real or imagined .
