Enforce the laws! Crack down on the shady employers, make it so painful to get caught hiring (and exploiting don't forget) illegal workers, and the jobs for illegals go away... and the illegals stop coming here.

Then start paying a fair wage to dishwashers, fruit pickers, and entry-level construction workers and you'll find that "Americans" will be willing to do those "Jobs Americans Won't Do."
EXACTLY! You start dropping the hammer on the people hiring illegals, they won't be hiring them anymore. There will be no reason for them to come here in the first place (to work). It's freakin' BS that Americans won't do the jobs that they do. I worked in an apple orchard during the summer all through high school. So did my friends.

Easy solutions:

1). Drop the hammer on people hiring illegals. No p-footing around!

2). Get rid of the a-baby thing and give illegals NO benefits (because they are illegal).

Done.

I think someone just wants 12 million more voters. He's going to need them.

So easy...yet never brought forward. Laws are enacted to protect them instead.

The writing is on the wall.

Yep...A couple hillbillies drinking beer on the tailgate of a rusty pickup truck could write that bill on a bar napkin and save this country billions, save jobs, etc. but these idiots can't do it. BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO. What's worse is...people buy into the "we just gotta give up and try to make it work for us" (little hint...never will) and "we have to have them because Americans won't do the jobs they do". Whoever believes that second one (Americans won't do the jobs), punch yourself in the face right now (j/k in case someone is dumb enough to do it). They don't even get the opportunity because of slum-lord employers.

People gotta stop saying "they will pay taxes" etc. The gov. gets 95% of it's taxes from the rich. 5% from the middle class. They're not even really middle class. Taxes is not an issue here. And stop saying Americans won't do the jobs. There are enough good paying jobs going to illegals.

If we do it, then we have MILLIONS of other illegals coming in the next years. They will just know amnesty will come some time. That is the message we will send them. Just come in ( at it's peak it was 1 Million illegals per year)
There needs to be a law that promises the business owners a certain time in jail when they hire illegals. That will totally do it.

And no, I am a liberal. I'm just one of the few liberals who put Americans first.

Not all that do it are greedy. Some do it because they cannot afford to have them on the books and still make a profit. It's pretty expensive to a small business to put someone "on the books". And the work may just be temporary or they are just starting out.

There's more to it than just greed. But the big employers that hire illegals are doing it for greed as they can afford to put legal workers on the books.

There are way too many laws/regulations that favor big business, yet the small business have to abide by the same rules, which may be financially out of reach for them.

Exactly. As much as I admired Reagan and still think he was the best President in modern day history, that was one of the huge mistakes he made. At the time it seemed right and fair, now, we know it was a disaster.

I do believe we need a worker program of some sort and would even go so far as to say, it might be necessary to make a few illegals, legal.

An idea: lived in the country 10 years or more:
be willing to pay a fine and an application fee
Apply for citizenship
Learn to speak English
Having never been found guilty of any offense including drunk driving.
Be gainfully employed
Be allowed no government benefits until you are a citizen

Then and only then should amnisty be an option..
