Oh sure, that's just what we need. 12 million more people to work "legally" when there is more than 10% unemployment. Yeah, bring them "out of the shadows" so they can legitimately be added to the welfare rolls, where they will stay. Oh yes, let's just compound our economic problems with uneducated and low/no skilled people AND their families who will surely follow. There'll be no incentive for employers to hire them under the table, so even MORE will illegally cross the border to undercut the illegals that would be given amnesty.

Oh yeah, another great obama idea, NOT.

It should be clear enough that recent presidents and their administrations have been encouraging and fostering immigration from Mexico, legal and illegal. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, while governor of Arizona, demonstrated support of illegal's and illegal immigration all the while she was governor.
I hope so. We need 12 million more tax payers.

Immigrants don't have a welfare state of mind like American citizens do. They work, and work hard. You people complain if you and if you don't. There's no winning. So legalize them, have them pay taxes and serve this great country as they should.

Shady employers want the illegal immigrants. And they want to pay them under the table. They want to keep them hid from government.
They don't have to go through the hassle and paperwork of deducting taxes, paying into workmans comp, etc, etc.
And how many unscrupulous employers do you think might be contributing to some shady politicians bankroll to influence them not to vote to close the border.
Sure they might legalize some who are already here on the premise of making them pay taxes, etc, just for show. That would just be a coverup for the ones we would never hear about or be accounted for.
Why do you think the next census forms wont have the question of whether or not you are a U.S citizen. Politicians are being bought off by special interest employer groups that want cheap labor.

There is going to be amnesty for them whether we like it or not - it's a useless fight. However, they should be made to LEARN ENGLISH. Unless WE want to have to learn Spanish to order at the McDonalds Drive Thru.

too bad we wouldn't get 12 million more taxpayers......

most of these people couldn't make a go of it in their own countries so how do you expect them to boost the standard of living here? they aren't even willing to fight to make their own countries better!

More built-in voters. This and the fact that the government is the largest union employer and growing everyday means that who else could you vote for other than the Democrats. Why do you thisnk the unions spent over 1 billion dollars supporting the democrats and why the Obama administration is rolling back many laws regarding transparency in the union finances and where they spend their money.

Why would the Obama administration be so against transparency. I'll give you a hint. Who do union bosses support? You got it!

This is what the wise Obama supporters voted for, Hope and Change, transparency, honesty in DC.

Contrary to campaign promises to increase transparency and accountability, the Obama Administration has announced plans to rescind union accountability and financial transparency regulations implemented by the Department of Labor (DOL) during the Administration of George W. Bush.

Bush transparency requirements lead to union revolt

The Denver United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 union voted out its longstanding president, Ernie Duran. The election that led to Duran's ouster was largely about accusations of corruption:

In 2007, Crisanta Duran was paid $133,410 and Ernie Duran's son, Ernie Duran III, was paid $134,378 as an executive staff member, according to Labor Department filings. The elder Duran earned $162,368 that year.
