it was under Reagan....but it was owned by TED Kennedy, the author and pusher of 8 amnesties since 1965

In 1986, Ted Kennedy’s blanket amnesty for 2.7 million illegal aliens promised a lot more enforcement but did not set any requirements for actual reductions in illegal immigration.
In 1994, Ted Kennedy’s Section 245(i) Amnesty gave legal residence and jobs to 578,000 illegal aliens. It was a temporary rolling amnesty primarily for extended mily members of immigrants who instead of waiting in line, come on to the country illegally.
In 1997, Ted Kennedy’s extension of the Section 245(i) rolling amnesty was followed by an increasing flow of illegal immigration.
In 1997, Ted Kennedy also won an amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America. Illegal immigration sped up some more.
In 1998, Ted Kennedy won an amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti.
In 2000, Ted Kennedy got the so-called Late Amnesty, legalizing another 400,000 illegal aliens who claimed that they missed out on Kennedy’s 1986 amnesty.
In 2000, Ted Kennedy also won the LIFE Act Amnesty for an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens. It was another reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty...an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens. Illegal immigration accelerated.

Immigrants don't have a welfare state of mind like American citizens do. They work, and work hard. You people complain if you and if you don't. There's no winning. So legalize them, have them pay taxes and serve this great country as they should.
Have you ever lived in southern calif?!!! Some immigrants may not have an entitlement mindset, but there are plenty of immigrant advocacy groups that show them the way to the govt's largesse. once enticed, human nature takes over. keep in mind that these are very poor ppl who think of our country as a very rich land. i doubt that they consider that the country is rich b/c of the extorted tax paying citizens (even out of those citizens, 40-45% pay no income taxes). what hope is there that a poor illegal with children will contribute ANYthing in the way of federal or state income taxes?

it was Reagan and as I have said before: he was, in my opinion a great President but that was one of his huge mistakes, maybe the biggest....But he only signed the bill, we did not introduce it...
Tell it to the people here in Michigan who are losing their homes and filing bankruptcy in record numbers because we have a 15.3% unemployment rate.
When will you kool-aid drinkers on the left realize that the Democrats only care about themselves and winning the next election? The only reason they want to do this when so many Americans are losing everything is to create a new Democratic voting block.

You're 110% correct! The point is, conservatives are or will be quick to state how Obama is doing this all the while their progenitors did it too. Kinda like forgetting Reagan and H.W. Bush addressed school kids but when Obama does the same thing it's spreading some socialist agenda to those school kids. Totally wacko.
