I'm not a sheep party follower either, but personally I have morals to live up to--and not financially supporting people who are anti-civil rights is important to lots of people.

And to OP... I've said it before, but In and Out is severely overrated. My family in LA is gaga over them, but their fries aren't very good (kind of mushy) and their burgers are bland. I just do not get what's so great about them. I personally love that Portland isn't completely filled to the brim with chains. Just about the only place left that isn't...

Cute.

But you're right ~ there are LOT more obese people in Oregon than outsiders would guess.

I like Inn-N-Out a lot. My only complaint about the burgers are that the patties are way too thin ~ there's almost meat in them. But they're always fresh and tasty.

Fries are very unimpressive. But I hear that the shakes are really good. I don't drink shakes with burgers anymore, so I've not tried one.

I maintain that the best shakes in Portland are at the Skyline Drive-In. I'd be willing to be proven wrong.

I'll second this. In 'n Out is just a a "cool California thing".
Seriously go up to Dick's in Seattle. Same thing but better, and not need for "brand awareness".

I also have not understood people's love of Dunkin' Donuts? They're really not any better than doughnuts at the grocery. I'm glad we have some unique interesting doughnut places that are delicious (seriously have you never had a bacon maple bar?!?!?!).

PS. There is a Sesame on Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy. It's technically in Beaverton, but only by about 300ft.

My impression is that Sesame is just Dunkin with a different sign. They just stopped paying the franchise costs and changed the signs on the building.

Completely agree, which is why I find it so strange people are lamenting about not finding any "dunkin' donut-like" places in Portland? The one by me in SW Portland, is totally an old Dunkin'.
It's not my favorite, but I still don't understand why it's not a good "replacement" for people.

you guys don't understand the lure of DD. You would have to hang out on the east coast more...It is not only donuts there anymore, also they have wonderful breakfast lunch. And the colors are so inviting (the orange). There is something about dunking donuts that makes you happy.

I enjoyed my time at Sesame, but I still want DD

I guess other places must have it better w/donut shops. Here in Happy Valley & Damascus, the ONLY places that sell donuts, are the grocery stores and the Krispy Kreme on 82nd.

Are there any other bakeries (I do know of a sugar free one at 82nd/212-224) or donut shops in Happy Valley/Clackamas/Damascus? I can't seem to find any beyond those mentioned.
