This is our first year taking the kids trick or treating since moving here. We live in an apartment complex and everyone has a porch light that never shuts off. So, to take them around our complex would be a waste of their time. Just wondering if anyone knows of a good neighborhood where the majority of houses pass out candy. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for the help!
I like the Bedford Neighborhood. Off Falls of Neuse Road (north of I-540) entrance is Dunn Road. Tons of homes, lots of families, kids, and many people decorate their homes for the Holiday. Lots of action in the neighborhood halloween night.
I'm just wondering how people in the "destination neighborhoods" must feel about this?
I live in an apartment too, and before that, in the country. We used to drive our daughter around to family for Trick Or Treating in the country, and once or twice went into neighborhoods with a friend (but by invitation).
I'm not really trying to stir the cauldron, but it seems a bit unfair to go to a neighborhood that you have no connection to, and expect them to hand out candy (which they had to purchase) to your kid, with whom they have no connection.
How do the people that live in these neighborhoods feel about this?
(and for that matter, since it's my first year in an apartment that is exactly as described by OP, what is to be expected? I asked a neighbor a few days ago, but they didn't know either...)
If I lived in an apartment with kids, I'd take them around the neighborhoods and streets closest to the complex.
I also wouldn't have a problem handing out candy to any kid that showed up at my door - I don't think it matters where they came from, and how would I know? It's about fun and the spirit of giving and seeing the cute costumes, not judging and exclusivity.
I don't mind where the kid comes from. If you show up my door in a costume on 10/31 I'm throwing candy at you.
Same here. However, the key words being kid and costume. If you are as tall as I am and not wearing a costume, you get nothing.....I will not answer the door.
Thank you so much for the resplies. I used to live in a neighborhood before I moved to Raleigh and I never had a problem handing out candy to every child. It's all about the kids having fun! I can not help that I live in an apartment right now and have no family here and very few friends. I don't feel my kids should have to miss out. I hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween!!!
NRG, Please don't throw a tasty beverage at MikeJ.
