It's pretty much the start to most Jewish prayers and what you say when you light candles (for Sabbath, Hanukkah, etc.). It means "Blessed art you..." Anyway, I hope you won't need to use them.

I remember those 3 words from my friend's bar mitzva (sp?) 40+ years ago!

So it appears we have a busted hose bibb (outdoor faucet). We had them wrapped up as best we could, since especially the one in front is a strange setup (97-year old house) and we had the back one burst last winter.

I noticed the front faucet dripping a bit yesterday morning, and I knew between the weather and it being Sunday it wasn't getting fixed immediately. So since it was only dripping, I put a watering can under it (may as well use the water). Now we have a full watering can and the faucet frozen solid. I'm afraid to see what will happen when things defrost. I may have to go run out to the water shut off...

I'm not used to this cold stuff! We never had to think about freezing pipes and stuff in the SF Bay Area

A light layer of snow is now covered with crunchy ice pellets. The dog doesn't enjoy this at all. She wants fluffy snow.

Really? They don't have built in make up days? Huh. Or have we had an unusually high number of school cancellations? I'm from the midwest where they just assume all hell is going to break lose every winter. This is so much better.
