As RedZin said, I am looking for 400K range. Don't think that area will cut for me in that range.

I'm not sure where you're looking but my neighborhood is zoned for DDMS and houses sell for high 300s - low 400s.

Inventory is low right now but Wellsley, West Park, maybe Berkeley, maybe Upchurch Farms, Park Village and MacArthur Park are just some subdivisions that can get you into DDMS at your price point. It is definitely not impossible, but it won't be a shiny new house.

Mills Park is going to be capped (forever?) and Apex Middle is also capped this year. Next best choice is West Cary.

Good luck with your search.

Hate.

LOL.

If my kids had a bus (especially in the afternoons) they surely would be on that thing.

ETA: I think that he meant that they were 600k+ and this put them out of the range he was wanting to spend for a resale.
I have yet to do the carpool at GHHS. I drop my 6th grader off in the morning because it's on my way to work and we are last to leave the house - if I leave her at the bus stop it's risky, because there are always those days when the bus just doesn't show.

Ah, wcpss transportation and their hijinks.

Agree with Twingles, low 400's will easily get you a 4 bedroom resale zoned for DDMS. Get a realtor to put you on the auto notification for 27519. You will get a bunch of other neighborhoods too but at least you will also get all the ones mentioned. I know Whitebridge is also in that price range and zoned for DDMS, I would say Rigsbe Farms and Weatherstone too, I think

OP wanted homes less than 5 years old. See why I said it wouldn't work? Expand to older homes and it absolutely would.

Yeah. They're a hoot.

See, I think this is a good strategy, but OP needs to be willing to go for a 15-20yo home.

With Brier Creek moving to Pine Hollow next year, perhaps space will open at MPMS in the future.

Yes, sorry, I missed the 5 years or less portion. That explains why the OP was having trouble.

They are moving Brier Creek to PHMS and Breckenridge to West Cary and they are still capped next year. When they lose students, they lose teachers. It is all a numbers game.

I drove down Green Level West from KitCreek Road the other day - unreal, absolutely unreal, how many housing units are up there. I just can't see the Mills Park schools, but especially the middle school, getting uncapped anytime soon.
