It really is sad how things went south fast for MN's. We drive by it a lot (we eat frequently at Chido Tacos) and the parking lot is usually pretty empty now.

I heard that a Peruvian chicken restaurant was coming to Southport and I had hoped it would be Alpaca. I really enjoyed the one in Brier Creek when I lived there. Just found out the new one here will be Fabe’s. Had never heard of it but it has good reviews. Has anyone eaten at one? Looks like there are locations in Fayetteville, Sanford and Wilmington. I plan to try the Wilmington location soon.

There's so many Peruvian chicken chains out there - honsetly I haven't really come across a bad one yet.......so chances are it will probably be good (the Fayetteville and Wilmington locations have good reviews)

I never got to try Mami Nora's but I do like Alpaca.

No disrespect to Mami Nora's but I am pretty excited about the prospect of a Cook-Out at that location on Glenwood....

Re: Alpaca. I just can't get on board with a $25 whole chicken (I've taken off $3 for the sides).

So we finally get a bit more info on the situation in general, but not really any info on the future of that Glenwood spot. Nice for those ITB about possibly getting a Cook Out at the Wake Forest Rd location, though.

My wife tells me that a Cook Out store is planned to open on Lake Boone Trail near Rex Hospital.

I saw that too. (TBJ I think, oddly not behind a paywall) Going to be drive through only, but also a few car and bike parking spaces....

Have never understood the love for this place. It's chicken. Seriously. And they have never got the order right the few times we've gone and the sides have been blechhhhhh.

They are one and the same basically. Mami Nora's rebranded as Alpaca when the matriarch went into retirement. Her kids are in charge now... and apparently need to take classes in running a business.
