When she was running I read she was in favor of reopening but I could not find any information to confirm that on her website. Is that what you mean?
Just my opinion (I’m in her district)...
I think that, when she was running, she was surrounded by people who also supported reopening. Now that she’s a board member, she’s hearing from many more families. I still think she’ll vote reopen, but I’ve seen a softening of her position in my own interactions with my board member.
wash, rinse, repeat. Hopefully by the mid-February break, they'll get teachers vaccinated... both rounds.
That's definitely not happening since teachers are now being pushed back on the list due to vaccinating 65+ first. Maybe first round by mid-February if lucky.
K-3 was. 4-5 were supposed to start Plan A on Monday. Now all of a sudden nobody's going at all.
Roxie Cash brought this up and made a motion to keep K-3 in Plan A. The rest of the board (except Carter) just got annoyed with her. Roxie isn't always the best at getting her point across, but shame on the board for barely even acknowledging her legitimate concerns.
The whole thing is ridiculous. A mere two weeks ago they claimed they were closing because of staffing. Now it's clear as day it's because of teacher complaints and the majority of the board feeling uncomfortable. Believe it or not an NCAE survey was actually sited as "data" that contributed to the decision.
For the record, I have no issue with the kids staying home. I'd rather that than flip flopping back and forth. What is ridiculous is the lack of transparency of the superintendent and board, and the fact that we're letting teachers (many of which are in a fake union) run the show.

This is the most unorganized, reactive-as-opposed-to-proactive, pansy-assed, indecisive, uninformed BOE in the country. And the country includes a lot of places I would never send my kids to school.
They will NEVER make a transparent, evidence based decision regarding back to school. But you can be darn sure they'll shout "equity" every chance they get.
My mother in law is a teacher in FL...been back to in person schooling since the start of the 2020 year. I think it's 50% virtual/50% in person or it was when they started in August.
They keep the schools closed but they are opening more libraries - they opened 3 yesterday.
I guess teachers matter but not librarians.
