Good analysis by CLT4. I've been through the Hyundai facility in Alabama. First class operation. Suppliers to Hyundai and the Kia plant in west Georgia are scattered all along I-85 between Montgomery and LaGrange. Impressive.
The Hyundai/Kia strategy worked well. I've owned three of them and all three have been excellent performers if a bit behind the times in terms of features and design.

When I was looking to buy a car in 2017 Hyundai was on of the few to offer Android Auto and Apple CarTalk. I think it is just now available in all Toyotas. They also had a lot of the safety features before some of the bigger companies.

They failed to put immobilizer chips in cars that are still under warranty but my Honda Accord came with it standard in 1998.
Vietnamese-based automaker VinFast is preparing for a Friday morning groundbreaking ceremony for its electric vehicle assembly plant complex in Chatham County.
The private event starts at 9 a.m. ET Friday in Moncure for the complex that will cover 2.8 million square feet at the advanced manufacturing site called Triangle Innovation Point. VinFast has made a $4 billion commitment to open the factory.
VinFast’s North American CEO Van Anh Nguyen said she is expecting hundreds of people from around the world to attend Friday morning’s groundbreaking.
RALEIGH – VinFast(VFS) shares soared to another new high on Friday – $73.90, up 30% from Thursday as its sensational up-and-down rollercoaster ride continues over its 10-day existence that began at $10 a share.
So why are people buying?
One reason is only a limited number of shares have been made available so bidding has been intense.
Shares of Vietnamese electric-vehicle maker Vinfast surged 21% on Monday, extending a rally from last week that more than quadrupled its market value to $160 billion.
The company made a blowout debut on Wall Street this month and has quickly grown in valuation to become the third-most valuable automaker - only behind Tesla (TSLA.O) and Toyota (7203.T).
damn, I wish I had put my life savings in, and pulled it out. Hindsight is 20/20.
While I still have a lot of doubts about their ultimate viability, I hope they succeed. I used to live in that area and I know their presence impacts a lot of people. I hope their presence ultimately ends up benefiting the community more than it disrupts them. (Only time will tell.)
It does not look good. Only 137 vehicles registered in the US.
And almost 70% of total sales so far this year are to a Vietnamese taxi company Vinfast controls.
Yeah, they shot themselves in the leg by debuting in the United States with a shoddy, horrible product that was immediately panned as crap.
