LOL. Gotta go back 7 years for that one eh? Meanwhile, R's have controlled the NC Congress since 2011—That's 12 years in a row. NC has done nothing but explode in opportunity the past decade. It's not even debatable.

Nor is it debatable that the majority of the "explosions" have been in Charlotte and Raleigh, which are dependably blue districts. It has happened under the leadership of our Blue Governor, in spite of attempts by the GA to stimy NC's growth and progression.

As I've said before, I'm not that fond of either party. I realize that everyone (you included) looks for facts to justify their position, but the reality is that both parties have contributed to the success, and both parties have put up their share of roadblocks and ill-advise legislation. NC is growing because of decades of 'mostly good' policy, along with great weather, and investment in our green-spaces which ABSOLUTELY make it an attractive place to live and work. Add to that the great school systems up until recently. If your beloved R's don't destroy our school system, which supplies the needed qualified workforce to attract business, and if they don't run off freedom-minded companies with anti-LGBT and anti-gay legislations or the newest form of their ill-conceived 'bathroom bills', we'll continue to thrive for decades to come.

So much hyperbole here, no wonder the OP chose to post this in the Triangle forum rather than the state one. Looking for sympathetic posters to engage in group outrage I guess.

Ha, ha. I love me some Austin Powers.

Look, maybe the poster is just sore cause Youngkin's recent book banning attempt (digging out some obscure law from the 1950s) was thrown out by the Judge as unconstitutional and all that junk.

Book banning is more of the same hyperbole. How is a book banned for simply being deemed too sexually explicit to be in a school's library, so it is taken out? Publication and selling is unaffected, so there is no ban on the free market exchange of ideas. No one is 'banning' books, we're just not going to continue to use taxpayer dollars to put them front and center in children's libraries.

Also, not sore because DEI is now dead in Virginia. Thank God.

Ohhhhhhhhh. I see. So what you’re saying is, and correct me if I have this wrong, is since the books can still be published and sold, they just can’t be in a library, it’s basically like cigarettes. They could still make them and sell them, that part is unaffected. Where you can smoke though, such as indoors, is what changed.

Cigarettes weren’t banned….but indoor smoking was bann………wait a minute! You mean my mom was being hyperbolic when she complained in the 90s when indoor smoking was, “banned”, where we lived?

I’m going to yell at her ghost tonight after I summon her spirit using a Ouija board.

It wasn’t banned mom!!! Dammit! It was just officially prohibited.

No offense, but you are being intellectually dishonest here. I mentioned "children's libraries", not public libraries in my post -- I was referring to school libraries there. There shouldn't be any book removals from public libraries, that I agree with you on but we should be cautious what we allow impressionable children to take out from school libraries.
