If you are on Facebook, there is a group called "You know you grew up in Raleigh, NC when..." with LOTS of old photos from past decades.
Another vintage pic--remember when Crabtree Valley had a theatre?! The Valley Twin (first "multiplex" in Raleigh, 1972!). This was around the left side of where Best Buy is now. I saw many an Irwin Allen disaster movie there, plus Star Wars.

The present day Raleigh Christmas Parade seems so dull and lackluster compared to those at night years ago under all those overhead lights and decorations. It was truly spectacular. I was sad to see the parade moved to mid morning. I believe safety was the reason for the change. Maybe they should change First Night to daytime as well
