I don't know about Japanese, but sometimes I wonder if my Jewish blood is slowly dissolving.

That's exactly how I feel about the porcelain figures, although to be fair this is the most minimalistic room in our house, every other room has my husband's statues and shadow boxes in it. I don't mind, he does make it look good, but I don't particularly enjoy dusting them.

It would be hard for anyone to come out of the closet and reveal that they actually like florals and pink and ruffles after us trashing it.

I'm brave.

I actually LOVE the pink bathrooms from the '50s.

Save The Pink Bathroom

Chocolate brown is a nice way to "defeminize" these spaces.

Bonus? MCM tends to be very clean-lined and masculine in almost every other room of the house.

I like hot pink but I don't have it anywhere in my apartment. I do have a lime green comforter though. I don't care for pastels and floral prints. My couches are a pretty neutral brown and I also have reds, browns and orange in my decor. My walls are white because I don't feel like repainting when I move out!

I think we had some discussion of this nature long time ago and somebody admitted to liking pink, but I don't remember who... Oh, well, they trash smokers, etc. all the time, soooo so be it!

Actually, hot pink compliments lime green. You can add some accents.

Afraid we ladies took over poor MG’s thread, steered it into decorating, and scared the guys away AGAIN!

Over the lustrums i've noticed quite a number of homes in CA, with the outside painted pink.

My biggest beef with women decorating is when they fall in love with a piece of furtniture or some paint color they saw in a demo or in a magazine. Then they compulsively buy it, overlooking the fact it doesn't fit at all in their homes.

Less is more, IMO. I'm not a collector of frilly knick-knacks or anything of the sort. My grandfather clock is a curio cabinet on the bottom and I have a few crystal pieces and items that belonged to my Mother.

Furniture wise, what we have at the moment is "hodge-podge" suitable for a rental. IF and WHEN we ever get into a house, we plan to dump everything and buy fresh.

Leather is what I plan to buy; no more fabric seating.

Pink and floral deco? Fuhgeddabawdit!!! I WILL have my red room though!

I would say it would be more their house was dirty or disorganized. The lived in look is great, just as long as piles of junk are not everywhere. The other turn off is the sign of a compulsive shopper.

Otherwise I don't care that much.

In terms of turnoffs of particular styles i'd say:

1. Floral patterns
2. Frilly crap
3. An excessive focus on a certain era of style say 1950's
