Yes, it's been a while since we've visited the National Days. Today is April 9th and is National Name Yourself Day.

Personally, I don't think I can top many of the things other people call me.

I have a complete set of personae for the character voices I do (and, if I get the courage, part of my future stand-up routine). For my gay-porn character, Luther Longbow is my monicker; Vito Ciacarelli is my Brooklyn/Italian wiseguy; Phillipus Louigious Bellafontaine is my pirate character, Carlton Smithers-Wellington my deep-voiced Southern gentleman and so on and so forth...

What? What are lookin' at me like that for?!?

My older brother and I actually worked for competing companies in the same industry so we were familiar with each others customers. There was this one account - a carryout by this restaurant with an Iranian owner who spoke with a thick accent and broken english. At one time or another we both had this guy for a customer. My company purchased the company that serviced them at the time so he became my customer again.

My smart-ass brother could do this man's accent and voice to perfection and would call my voice mail at work and just start b*tching at me "What is the meaning of this!! You come in here with these g-d trucks and rip the wires out of my g-d building you sons-of-a-b*tches. You will not get away with this I tell you." Then he'd hang up. I had to listen to that at least 10 times before I realized it was my brother. He used to call me doing all kinds of people like that there was this farmer we knew too he did really well. So, I started a cassette tape called the Best of Bro and recorded all these calls. They make me laugh so hard I cry.

That tape is a keepsake - if you haven't already, you might want to consider transferring it to digital format.

But that's hilarious that your Bro could do that - you're lucky to have that in your life.

We're having a rare gloomy and rainy day and I'm treating myself to a day in bed - sleeping in, reading, taking a nap, more reading, a movie later... It's yummy! Somehow it feels weird doing it with the sun blasting out. It'd be even better if it were a working day - for some reason knowing your coworkers are in their cages makes it even more pleasant!

I love those gloomy days! It was hot here today, and I am not looking forward to the summer. Last year was nasty!

I also have messages from his kids from when they were really little left on my answering machine. Now those are absolutely priceless. They would have the kids call to just to ask me these bizarre questions because you could hear him and his wife laughing in the background.

My brother and I did all kinds of crazy crap to each other. We were cut from the same humor cloth. To get him back for the phone calls, I found these pre-printed envelopes that said 'Your Herpes Test Results are Enclosed' on the outside of the envelope. So, I sent it to him, knowing full well my mother got and opened his work mail so she'd see it first.

We once found this plastic lawn goose and passed that back and forth for a couple years before someone stole it. Just when you thought it was gone it would reappear. I found it in the passenger side of my car, on my antenna of my car at the mall. I bungie corded it to the front of his truck in the middle of the night -since he backed it into the spot I knew he'd never see it and other odd places.

He moved away and took a job with a waste hauling company, so I pulled a Godfather on him and found a pony head on a stick at the dollar store and ripped the head off the stick, stuck it in a box and mailed it to him with a note that said "The Family welcomes you to (insert city here)."

When he moved to Florida I had his whole yard pink flamingoed. I found this woman who actually did this for a living in a newspaper article. She had stickers under them with her name and address and got all of them back and reused them. Hilarious and ingenious.

Funny, how when you reflect back on your life it's the moments of everyday silliness that stick out the most and not the supposed huge milestones.

It's been raining here for days and makes me feel less guilty for not doing squat. Sometimes I welcome them.
