It's not about hiding anything, it's about the total lack of trust that the relationship is based on.

I think it's a good idea for a variety of reasons, but in regards to infidelity--there are no gurantees in life. I keep hearing people saying that if there's nothing wrong with your marriage, then you shouldn't have to worry about it. Say what? There are plenty of men out there who have been married to their spouses for decades who thought everything was chummy only to be served with divorce papers at their jobs or days off at the gulf course.

Plain and simple, everything isn't what it always seems to be.

How about the government DNA tests all babies and fathers so that the fathers can be held reponsible for support

Some guys like to say this, and I'm sure it happens occasionally, but for the most part men who are blindsided by divorce are either oblivious or willfully obtuse. They should have spent more time with their wives and less time on the "gulf course" just assuming that everything was chummy.

It probably will be one day - before or after we all get chipped, I don't know...

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I've posted polls and I can't see that. I tried View Source and they're not really there, either. I don't think anybody other than the senior mods and DB people can see them.

Sierra, if you click on the numbers in the poll, you should be able to see who voted how.

Hmm... you need a marriage license to get married in a church too.....unless you're planning on a Vegas chapel wedding with an Elvis impersonater singing while playing guitar music.

BTW, I fail to see the correlation between the topic and marriage licenses OR a prenup as insurance in case the marriage results in divorce.

FWI, all men paying child support in my state of residence are entitled to DNA testing, and similar around the country.

So, it simply comes down to a lack of trust in your own ability to chose a suitable partner, how sad for you.

Haha, I was going to suggest that if men want paternity testing on their children, maybe women should be allowed to micro-chip him. You know, so she can always find him in case he ups and leaves.

But then I thought that was too much akin to tagging my dog and, well, not every man is a dog.

I know right? Whats next, a mandatory lie detector test for both parties before signing a 'I'm willing to date you' contract?
