But for guys with an "average" personality hit the gym and get a rug on top to even the score.
You really should check out the toupee thread in the Fashion and Beauty subforum to get a clearer idea of how most women (here) feel about the "rug" on top.
Balding is not attractive. Bald is GREAT. Just my opinion. (Married to a man who started balding at 20 and just shaved it all off. I found him sexy as hell when I met him at 19 and he was 26. Fifteen years later, and he has no idea the looks he gets from other women. MINE, Ladies.)
My veterinarian is a young guy (probably mid-30s) with male pattern baldness and keeps his hair extremely short. He's a great vet and a great human being: smart, confident, optimistic, enthusiastic, compassionate. He's also great looking. I think he's very sexy. Hair has zero to do with it. He's engaged, so I'm not alone in my assessment.
I just met a man who shaves his head. No facial hair, either. He's average looking with a kind face. I found him sexy in an understated way. We had a brief first meeting. He came to my place to pick up a piece of furniture I was giving away. He had beautiful manners, a sense of humor, told me I'd made an intelligent suggestion regarding getting the item to his car, seemed confident and was interested in the few bits of personal information I tossed out as casual conversation. He spoke in a low voice, and I felt very comfortable around him. We emailed several times afterwards, and a week later we're getting together for dinner. In his emails he has displayed consideration and thoughtfulness.
These are the things that matter, not hair. I'm really looking forward to seeing him again. Oh, and bald guys are supposed to have extra testosterone. Woof.

I don't think it's a disadvantage as long as you're not doing the comb-over. I see tons of good looking bald guys (mine is one of them) and I see lots of young guys who were losing their hair just shave it now. There's also a lot of corporate men in my office building that shave their head or are balding.
I hear many women I know say they especially love bald with a beard. It's a popular choice. The hottest woman among all my friends is married to a bald man, and it's generally agreed that he is attractive and they're well matched.
I saw a show, it might have been Mythbusters, where they tested what people rated as attractive, and they found that the least attractive to various women overall was partial balding, like bald on top. But women did like the fully bald look, or full hair. So guys...if you start to really lose the hair, just shave it off. That would be my advice.
Personally, I like a man with a full head of hair, especially dark hair that is going silver, or is completely silver. I find that particularly appealing. But I've met bald or balding men who just had that certain something...attitude, or a winning smile, or an endearing trait of character...(and no, it's not about height.) Vin Diesel, I find really hot, but a lot of that was in things like hearing he likes D&D (I like nerds) and in seeing him be a good dad to his kids in videos he posted on social media. A man who treats his family well gets points for that, it simply raises my general good opinion of him. If I'd found out the actual dude was a meathead jerk in real life, I would have given a big ol' thumbs down to his general appeal no matter his looks or his hair.
I tried to help a balding friend years ago, telling him to try Viviscal hair tablets, Biotin supplements, Rogaine because his hair was thinning at the top back part of his head. These things work for that type of hair problem. "Oh, that's too expensive, it's too much trouble, women are so shallow," etc. Some people are their own worst enemies.
I am a woman who loves running my fingers through a man's mane. I am currently obsessed with Steve Bannon's thick salt & pepper mop especially when it's styled like this. The video's focus clears after a minute so be patient. If you have never heard Bannon or Priebus speak you will be surprised since they are falsely characterized in mainstream opposition media.
I find bald dudes really attractive as long as he looks well put together and the put together part applies whether he is balding or not. Bald with a full beard is not my thing but man...something along the lines of a Shemar Moore look...yes please!
