Where is the Capitol Police and the National Guard? A mob breaks into the US Capitol building, and just wanders around? All the people claiming to be the "Law and Order Party" are strangely silent.

The Capitol Police is not a large force by any means so they would not have a prayer against that mob. The DC national guard was instructed to remain unarmed per a friend who lives there. The Pentagon promised not to use military force or call other states guards in.
Virginia is sending their National Guard and 200+ VA state police officers in per the Governor.

It's just ironic that DC hotels and restaurants were more prepared for this group of protestors to show up en masse than law enforcement was.
