i have held down a demanding job for 18 years, have my own place, don't drink, don't smoke, in my 40's straight, never married, but i don't have many friends at all.

Just off that little bit of info you sound like an introvert and probably kind of shy to me.
People with your personality have the added burden in life of having to push themselves out of their comfort zone to actually connect with others and form relationships. I KNOW that's not easy for you and I sympathize. Just remember, if you can make yourself do it you're life can potentially be so much richer. Friends add so much to our lives! Just remember, to have a friend you have to BE a friend. Good luck

You're right. Just a few days ago I was talking on my local forum about an event I was gonna give up going to because I had a rough day, but I kinda forced myself to go and it ended up being so much fun! It might even turn into more fun in the future. In a way it's like marital sex - you don't feel like doing it half of the time, but then you get into it.
Excellent, so if I jump to Stage Four will that assure me of not having to worry about Stage Five or is that still a risk? I would hate for any situation to get to Stage Five, sounds scary, like Red Alert or late stage cancer metastasized.

This is a very serious topic for them. 35,000,000 single women pursuing at most, 100,000 men who meet their exacting standards........this is not fun and games! Besides, half of these men are likely gay.
However, expect to get the occasional anonymous encouragement in messages from those guys who are too wimpy to publicly support you and incur the wrath of this site's humourless majority. Usually they can't help but applaud however, when your wit causes them to exhale their breakfast cereal onto their monitor.
This is a good system for women to use on the suave good looking types, since all five stages can be completed in a week and it guarantees success.
Its also good for men since few get beyond stage 1 (unless she gets drunk and they start at stage 4) and they are therefore saved from a life of misery.
