Anyway, why is this a problem? Why would you want to be born a girl in a society that devalues girls?

Sorta like how men born into the Western World are devalued?

The guys can just pair off with each other, which seems to be what a huge portion of guys would rather do anyway, if societal pressures didn't force them into hetero roles.

That's and EXTREMELY foolish comment. The natural orientation of men is STRAIGHT- always has been and always will be. Unlike women, who are can be more fluid in their orientation, most men are quite rigid.

Look at how many women are willing to be gay for pay (i.e. porno movies). They make what, 1000 dollars per scene? Very few men would be willing to be in a homosexual encounter for so little, is there is a price at all.

And I certainly don't blame guys for preferring the company (and bodies) of other guys. They and I have similar tastes. I can't imagine being trapped in a relationship with a female.

And, as a straight women (I assume) you have no idea what you're talking about. The vast majority of men want to be with female bodies because that is how we are wired.

In any event, I don't think we should be allowing significant immigration from countries where women are so devalued that people feel the need to kill their girls. We're importing that attitude, and the propensity toward such attitudes.

If only we could do the same thing with feminist attitudes.

As noted, the men who will be wifeless had NOTHING to do with the policies so let's not enjoy this too much.

Also, while there are some Asians who love white guys (and I LOVE those Asian girls), most still want to be married to Asian men. Asian women are delaying marriage though because of modern attitudes as well as the deluge of single men giving them a huge advantage at least in their 20's.

Well I guess its up against porn technology with 3D and sex bots. Will men who don't want real women exceed 24 million?

We have already culled off what most men find attractive in excess of this ratio in the US with weight. I would guess the number is about 1/3. In other words for men who like women with average weight, the odds are still better in China. We have in essence killed off attraction with ratios of 100 to 133 at least. We get bigger faster than they can kill them.

This is precisely the effect reported to me by a man who spent 7 years in Japan while we had his wife's sukiyaki. Since their are so few overweight women in Japan, attractive women to those who have this taste in women seem to be everywhere.

Skewed China birth rate to leave 24 mln men single - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20100111/hl_afp/chinapopulationmenmarriage - broken link)

I've been warning about that demographic time bomb for years now. It's only going to get worse. Wouldn't put it past the Commies in Beijing to start a war so its excess young men can get killed off......

It's really not much better in America if you're a single guy in your late 20's or 30's, we have to compete with 40+ men that have more money than us and pursue younger women. In your late 20's and 30's there's more single men than women in America. Also it may sound shallow but it's true in America if you're a man that is not physically attracted to overweight women you have way less options. If I was attracted to overweight women I would have more dates than I know what to do with. Then combine this with trying to find a woman over 27 that does not already have kids...it's not that great for men in America. At least not once you hit 30...single college age guys in their early twenties or whatever still do well because there's still so many single women without kids that have never married. Once you hit 30 it starts to get really hard. You're not only competing against older 40+ guys you're competing against younger guys.

I guess that the single women are in Mexico and the Philippines!

But not India, BTW. India also has the "Chinese problem", since ultrasound clinics came there. Indian men then want to go to US so they can make enough money to afford a wife, in what is a competitive dowry market.
I'll have to with Jay on this one. He's probably right about www.Imakeupmyownfacts.bs

You do understand the concept of dowry, right? It's the women who need enough money to afford a husband in that competitive dowry market.

Please.

I don't know to add to my earlier post I think NotaRedneck is right it's the wealthier countries that seem to have a lack of single women over 25. The poorer countries in Central/South America, the Phillipines, etc. seem to have no shortage of women from what I understand. I know people that have been to South America they say there are tons of single women there compared to the United States. In the US when you go to a social function or enter a social setting most of the women there are always taken. This all could be tied to immigration to a degree I'm not totally sure on that one.

That's interesting. I don't think you can lump all of "Central/South America" together, though. If what you say is true, there are still different reasons for the big number of single people among the different countries.

Brazil, for instance, is a thoroughly modern country with a lot of wealth and good economic climate. Very sensual people and non-traditional sexual mores, too. I'd venture that many don't get married in Brazil because they don't really see the need.

But such would not be the case in poorer and more traditional countries.

Abortion itself isn't a problem. It was that they didn't balance accordingly. That was the real problem.

I'm all for eugenics and population control, but in China's case it was just a horrible plan they had in place. On the one hand, no one (who has ever been there, at least) should ever criticize China's efforts to rein in the growth of its 1.5 billion population. I know it's easy to judge for comfortable and psychotic Christians (such as the Duggars) who live first-world lifestyles in the land of opportunity, but the reality is so horrifying that it quickly stifles any qualms one has.

I myself, despite being numerically literate, really had no concept of just how bad it was. I saw the stat: 119 men, soon to be over 120+, for every 100 women. It just doesn't look like an important stat. But when you divide 119/100 you get 1.19 (I know, I know, easy so far, right?) 1.19 men for every 1 woman. Now consider that multiple in a population of 1,500,000,000. Suddenly it's a vast and incomprehensible difference.
