I am really sincere in saying that if a person is adamant about the biblical literal text, then why is it that they do not gouge their eyes out when they see something that offends them. If they did something wrong with their hand, why do they not cut it off, or their feet in the same spirit of obedience.
Wouldn't the demand for a purely literal intepretation of the bible dictate that God commands you to do such things? And wouldn't you be disobeying God when you do not do such things?
Seriously , I would look at this teaching as a recommendation to cast out elements of your congregation .In this day and age more or less anyone you call friend , share a meal with shake hands with ...... that causes you to sin. We now live a field of mixed plants.

She isn't saying anything offensive. What she is doing in a round about way is deconstructing materialism as it is currently known . . Bishop Berkeley had a slightly different tack but it has a similar effect. It gives a person the ability to be objectively observing what someone like say a brain specialist Nobel winner on Charlie Rose might pontificate about concerning mental illness. To see their relative nakedness per say.
Authorities have this ability in the absence of other perspectives to impose there world views upon the masses without resistance. To a large extent we had a post WW2 cold war set of student programming /testing methods put into place to dumb down society so much that no one would ever question Materialist authorities again. After all the A Bomb was king. The civil rights movement did as much if not more to make society dependent upon Materialism as a religion than to liberate anyone from anything but another version of bondage to Materialism and further expansion and subsequent destruction of the planet. Humans are in bondage to machines and their makers.
I said this before , the English Bible was written as an Imperial work Authorized by King James. Most Conquering tongue's bibles were published in order to promote Materialism not faith.

Crystal, pillars of fire, and rainbows above the throne. That is Bible language for the created temple set in the created sun,. The sea of crystal is in front of the throne, and the crystal and pillars of fire compose the walls of the heavenly temple which YHWH declares, in Psalm 18:6 [Douay Rheims; Septuagint], that He has set in the sun, His "dazzling hot dwelling place", as He describes it in Isaiah 18:4 [in the Hebrew wording], from which dwelling place He takes repose ,and looks down/scans intently, the inhabitants of earth, below.

Wrong, The earth is not a planet /wanderer- in the Word of God, nor in true science. Nothing called science can prove that the earth revolves around the sun, or rotates or tilts.
And the Hebrew word for world is tebel, which root etymons, B-L mean "to swell", and tebel means "globe".
You have a bigger problem making up a standing still earth because Joshua also commanded the the moon to stand still, as well as the sun, and they did -both of them.
And in Daniel chapter 4, King Nebuchadnezzar is said by Daniel speaking by the Holy Spirit, to be the king of kings of all the earth, wherever man, beast, or fowl dwell. That was in the sixth century BC, and the Olmec civilization's king, in what is now Mexico, and all other kings of all kingdoms on earth were under the rule of Nebuchadnezzar.
Mankind scattered around the globe beginning at the fall of the tower of Babel, and we have suffered world wide dark ages at different times, since then.
Before the dark ages reached their height, after the flood of Noah, the world was mapped, using satellite technology, for even Anarctica was mapped at that time with technology of that sort, before the ice age covered it. That information is available to anyone who does honest investigative research to see if these be so. Charles Hapgood's Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings has that research laid out in his book.
