I honestly thought about posting that earlier. My premise is that while many disagree with his actions.. they agree with the underlying message.
Their underlying message is false. (Do they even recognize Jesus?) They say "God hates this and God hates that", and their message appears to ignore these verses:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
God so loved!

So basically, the following verses appear to apply:
1 John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
The "Jesus Christ" that came in the flesh is one who came for our redemption... not for vilification and hate.

So the messages they have on their signs that say Godhatesfags.. those message are ok?

If no.. then is this ok? --> "God is repulsed by homosexuality".. thus making gays feel as though God is repulsed by them.

Or it is it the timing of their events and has nothing to do with the signs they hold up?

Or is it a combination of both?

If Fred wasn't the nutcase that he is.. how would you propose he carry on his mission?

Study Jesus and see what He did.

Then do the same thing.

This type of group is dangerous not because people may take them seriously, but because they take themselves seriously and act accordingly.

I do. I don't tell people that God is repulsed by them.

I wasn't saying that for you.

You didn't ask me about you.

You asked me what Fred Phelps should do.

That was my answer.
