Let me see here. How did the movie Zeitgeist explain it so well?
First there were all of the other Gods throughout history that were born of a virgin, with a star in the east, had twelve disciples, and so on and so forth. If you look at the history of Horus, the Egyptian God of Light or the Sun, you will notice the same similarities that he had with Jesus. In fact, after studying it a little further, I'm almost convinced that Jesus is a blatant ripoff of the Egyptian Sun God. The whole story seems contrived off of astrology. The 12 signs of the Zodiac being the 12 disciples as well as the other "12's" in the Bible such as the 12 Tribes of Israel, 12 Sons of Jacob, 12 Judges of Isreael, 12 Great Patriarchs, 12 Old Testament Prophets, 12 Kings of Israel, and 12 Princes of Israel.
The Star in the East, by the way, just so happens to line up with the three stars on Orion's Belt on, you guessed it, December 25th (the same day Horus was born) and is also very indicative of the three wise men. You know? Three stars on Orion's Belt which also line up with the star in the East, that star being Sirius which just so conveniently makes the constellation of Virgo (a virgin)...
The signs of the zodiac are impervious throughout the Bible with things such as the age of Pisces which is actually the very same Jesus fish that people put on their cars, and the sign of the cross is actually something ripped off straight out of the Egyptians almost more than 1500 years earlier.
Moses' story is also directly ripped off out of a number of other historical documents including the Babylonian myth of Hammurabi and the King of Sargon who was floated away after birth to be saved from infanticide. In these other stories, you can almost blatantly see the evolution of Moses' name. And then there's the Noah's Ark story whose earliest origins are seen quite some time earlier with the Epic of Gilgamesh. Overall, I'm finding that the Bible seems to be no more credible than the Sunday morning Astrology clippings in the local paper.
Here's some interesting reading. Compare the Egyptian writings and the Bible writings for comparison. You might be amazed at what you'll find. As well, study the story of Sargon (which dates much further back than Moses' story) & also study the likes of Dionysus, Krishna, Horus, Mithra, and Prometheus and you'll find that they all were born of a virgin with a star in the east with three wise men around them and they bear all of the other similarities that Jesus had only they did so centuries earlier. Pretty interesting...
The Bible is like a map - it has been given to mankind to lead them and guide them to the truth. There are prophecies that have already come true. Jesus was prophesied about - his birth, his death. The Bible doesn't actually say how many Wise men came from the East. There are mysteries in the Bible. The Eyes of Faith are needed to read it and understand it fully. Those who do not belong to the Lord find the Bible very confusing and mysterious. To those who have been born again by the Holy Spirit (when they become a christian), understanding is given to them of the truths and wisdom contained in the Bible.
To me using the bible as a map or guide to living would be like using a 2000 year old chart to navigate the oceans of the world...Very outdated, and I'd run aground in short order.
according to some historians, the bible stories were written by scribes centuries after they "happened" meaning they were oral stories finally written down. ever play telephone? stories change over minutes, can you imagine what happens over centuries?
i think the old testament have stories that help explain to people why things are the way they are. sort of an answer to "why/how are we here" and kind of like what mythology was in Greece.
now the gospels in the new testament are letters of accounts according to the diciples. they were also written years after they "happened".
If the Bible was in error because of the TELEPHONE theory, then how would you explain the accuracy for it's prophecies today?

It is because the world has ignored the Bible that we find ourselves in the mess we are today. Countless millions could be alive today if they had just followed the moral code the Bible laid down for us.

Even though all of this is well documented, Christians will still insist that it is their story.

I disagree, the Christian Churches profited too much from colonialism.
They often used the fact that they were wealthy as a reason for the heathen primitives to convert to Christianity.

Don't forget about Easter (Ishtar).
I have read these stories before, and if you do your homework you will find they are not nearly as clear cut as you have laid out here. Also, the Biblical story of Jesus Christ fulfills the 300 prophecies found in the Old Testament. Not to leave out the fact that if the stories were just made up by scribes of the past, how do you begin to explain the accuracy of the Bibles end times prophecies that are happening today? How could mortal man have such advanced knowledge of future events that the Bible clearly describes? And these prophecies are well documented.

The fact remains, that if people embraced the Bibles moral code, millions of people would be alive today. The Bible warned against immoral lifestyles, and all you need to do is look at the millions who have died off in countries where large populations ignored the Bibles warning.

The thing is that the Christian missionaries believed that they were acting according to the Biblical moral code, but the fact is that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
The church became blinded by their goal and there have been reports that they used brute violence in order to convert the primitive heathens into Christianity.
This goes directly against the teachings of Jesus.
