Interesting, I have never heard that before, and really, even if the earth was truly flat and we were lied to about it in some complex conspiracy...in the end, God is still the creator of everything, the shape of the planet doesnt change anything related to that...that I can see.

Do you have any verifiable evidence for that, or are you just running on 'faith' here?

I agree, it's irrelevant to most, but IMO the Bible is geocentric.

That’s rather archaic thinking...

Now you have an inkling of how it feels to be an non believer, and encounter someone who believes that the Earth once stopped rotating for 24 hours, a man and his family collected a mating pair of every kind of animal from around the world and built a wooden boat large enough to contain them all in for several months, that a man rode around inside a large fish for several days as if it were a seagoing taxi, hordes of dead people came up out of their graves and wandered the streets of Jerusalem, and a corpse came back to life and flew away.

It's rather like being confronted with a big child... isn't it!

Yeah, and this is one example why I'm ... not a big fan of religion.

"Oh who cares, " said in some airily, dismissive way, "if people believe the earth is flat, round, or if it looks like a Borg cube. In the end, God created everything, so the shape of the earth doesn't really matter ..."

No, it DOES matter if you give a damn about what's true.

If you don't mind large segments of the population running around believing in myths and fantasies (and I'm not just talking about religion, here) and then running to the polls and *voting* based on their false beliefs, then, well, what can I say ...

It's no wonder why Americans have become the world-wide butt of jokes when it comes to stupidity and ignorance.

Those kinds of people would be doing the same thing even if religion were not around though, there is always going to be a certain percentage of people that subscribe to alternative beliefs, opinions, theories, conspiracy theories, etc.

I actually know a couple people that honestly do not believe dinosaurs existed, they believe the bones and fossils were placed here with the intention of deceiving us (relating to the age of the planet mainly).

How did you meet such a person? and how did the conversation arise?

That's one of the problems with diversity, everyone doesn't think alike...
I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future (next 100 yrs. or so), mankind enacted a worldwide system of communism so that we can all think alike and be happy, happy, happy.
