True! But that does not mean that it is not foolish to believe in the bible.
True! But that does not mean that it is not foolish to not believe in the Bible!
Look, I have had too many instances of "events" happen to me that cannot be explained through our rules of logic and reason. And, because of this, I believe there are rules of logic and reason, that we do not know of and do not physically apply to us.
1 Corinthians 2:11 - "For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God."
"Natural forces" is just another name for God since you have no clue what the hell they actually are or why they exist and how they KNOW to do what they do, etc. How they function contains NONE of that information so it is useless as an explanation for what they ARE.

Maybe it's black magic.
I am trying to make a point here, and I hate to think that I have to literally spell it out.

Maybe you could share a couple of these "events" on the board and explain how "they can't be explained through our rules of logic and reason?"

Would it really make a difference to others who have not personally experienced such things? Everyone thinks these things are hokey until it happens to them, which is how I felt until they have happened to me...
Who said God needs to be created? Logic would say that anyone and everything is "created". However, that applies to things in our realm, and, therefore, does not necessarily apply to things outside of our realm.
If you are being consistent, you are saying a complex, perfect god must be created, otherwise all you are doing is special pleading.

Or that a god is not possible. Therefore one should be agnostic if you are basing your belief on what you do not know.

And maybe a god must be logically consistent. I am sure you can see the problem when one base beliefs on ifs, buts and maybes.
Yes, your often repeated non sequitur IS a PhD level argument.
Seriously, get another argument, this one is so lame, it was put to sleep years ago.
So you once again admit you have NO evidence for an intelligence behind everything.
The problem with Mystic's -- and other christian's -- viewpoint is that they seem to attach it only to the things they see as good. But let's use the same principle:
In 1556, an earthquake in China killed an estimated 830,000 people. I literally cannot comprehend that. Must be god killed all those people.
Same for tsunami that the southern Thai peninsula a few years back. Musta been god.
I cannot comprehend the evil of Hitler or Pol Pot...how they could rise and do what they did to the extent that they did it. Must be god led the way.
And this is the same kind of thinking that I have challenged one of our 'in love with religion' posters -- show some balance. And they just can't do that. And there's a reason -- I firmly believe they are afraid of losing their faith if they show balance.
