And had the gaul to pray to the same God on both sides telling each side God was with them. It cannot get any darker than that.
Jesus showed when Peter cut off the ear of his enemy, he forbade it. Why? Because they were to beat their swords into plowshares. Isaiah 2:4
Never would God allow the brothers in Christ to stand on both sides killing one another.
Self defense is one thing, but to go to another country and they actually did nothing to us, is not self defense. More like a forced self defense.
This world is blind-2Cor 4:4--

Hey kj. Shall we stop preaching and start practicing? There are whole slew of Christian countries at war with each other over Ukraine right now.

70:1.1 (783.4) War is the natural state and heritage of evolving man; peace is the social yardstick measuring civilization’s advancement. Before the partial socialization of the advancing races man was exceedingly individualistic, extremely suspicious, and unbelievably quarrelsome. Violence is the law of nature, hostility the automatic reaction of the children of nature, while war is but these same activities carried on collectively. And wherever and whenever the fabric of civilization becomes stressed by the complications of society’s advancement, there is always an immediate and ruinous reversion to these early methods of violent adjustment of the irritations of human interassociations.

With all due respect to your pacifist religion and leanings, QB, this world is a very unspiritual place! The vagaries and dangers of this world are not compatible with pacifism. Whatever our spiritual goal is, it is more difficult to achieve if we are killed or taken captive by hostile regimes. War to prevent that seems unavoidable until we evolve more as a species, IMO.

I was tacking onto YOUR comment (which I quoted), related to QB asking why CHRISTIANS don't oppose war more.

Harder to actually do it yourself.

Deep religious and spiritual people pray daily for world peace. In private. They send peaceful vibrations in this world and counteract the evil vibrations. They do that not only during prayers but also during their other activities. Work, social interactions, every hour of their life. The ten Commandments, Yama and Niyama. They are not the ones to go out and scream and protest in big groups on the streets to "change the world".
I wasn't suggesting there is "no one better." Only that whichever country steps up and does it should do it better than the United States has in the past and up to the present. We can do much better, and just BTW, other countries have stepped up too. Lest we forget how the French came to our aid during our Revolutionary war, and/or there's the entire history of WWI and WWII. Took us a good long time to "step up" after other countries had done more than just step up, and died for the sake of the whole world.

Too bad praying for world peace and all those efforts to "change the world" haven't worked too well so far...

War mongers always win over peace seekers.

Power and control drives them. It has even occurred within a religious denomination as one sect seeks higher control over all sects.

There's plenty of religious wars documented in history.

War mongers are peace seekers. You are seeing double. This is called duality, the state of the deluded mind.

Let me put it in a naturalist perspective. Imagine you are an alien life form watching humans at war from outer space, or a kid watching the the insects killing each other in his ant farm. Can you see any peacemakers?

War mongers are more power seekers than peace seekers IMHO.

QB, have you ever heard of the organization Christian Peacemakers? While they can't stop war, they go to places to help innocent people who are affected by conflicts. Their motto is "Getting in the way".

I knew a guy through a friend who was going to northern Iraq with them about ten years ago. At the time, Iran and Turkey were bombing the Kurdish area. Both countries wanted control of the region (and the USA provided bombing coordinates to Turkey because they supported them over Iran).

The Kurds in the region mostly raise sheep, and the would lose livestock in the bombings. The Peacemakers helped them move to the mountains with their animals during bombing season.

The guy I met had to have a living will in place and sign a paper verifying that he knew his life would be in danger and he was going voluntarily.

ETA: I see they changed their name.
