No perfume. Just be clean and practice good oral hygiene. Don't smoke.

+1, I completely agree with both of you.

The best smell for any man, older or younger, is to be freshly showered using lots of Ivory soap.

All those colognes just stink, to me. Whew! I must be allergic to stuff they put in them.

I am female and I practice what I preach.

I tried that hatchet cologne and not a single lady attacked me! Can I sue for false advertising?

My attitude is that I don't douse myself with the oil I wear, and if it bothers someone else; then - tough gnoogies - they can move to another table, another room, another town, another world.

I agree. a little bit goes a long way. It should be subtle...not announce your arrival. Nothing worse in my opinion than body odor on a hot day to kill a mood...

Shower daily and use Ivory soap, don't smoke or dip tobacco, wear clean clothes, use deodorant (I like Old Spice).

Make sure you floss daily and brush your teeth (and tongue) twice a day. And if you drink coffee, have some breath mints handy.
Not "necessary" but I enjoy wearing it sparingly on occasion.

Mennen Skin Bracer, Old Spice Original, or Brut

These trigger unconscious memories in women of their first boyfriends who slapped on dad's aftershave before the date...

At least that's me theory!

Good luck, Rg

I dunno. My dad used a little Old Spice, as did one guy I dated. But triggering memories of your dad’s generation is not exactly sexy, ya know? Comforting, yes.

Comforting. I was just thinking about how when my dad came home from work he smelled of grease and diesel fuel and he'd pick me up and swirl me around.

For the longest time I thought that was the best smell in the world.

Associations.
