Richmond is at the border between the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast so it exhibits traits from both regions. Overall, I think that most people are friendly here. Richmond is definitely a preppy city in many parts so some neighborhoods may have some entitled people. I don't think that most people mean any harm by it though. While some people do show distaste for some uneducated people, I have never heard anyone directly criticize someone simply because they feel they are lower than them. If this is how people around feel than you should politely disagree with them and stay firm and compassionate in you belief system.
