The season totals I last listed up to Nov 9, 2021 were correct.

Santa Barbara almost always has the highest average annual rainfall for SoCal.

But currently,

Oceanside (San Diego County) at 1.57 has Santa Barbara beat.
Santa Barbara 1.21
San Diego-Lindberg at 1.01 for the season to date, Nov 16, 2021

I'll list more NorCal and SoCal totals soon.
Interesting, it seems the definition of the rainfall season varies by source. My data source was since July 1, so that explains the differences.

You are correct about Santa Barbara, it's just so far from here that some consider it Central California. It's definitely more connected to Santa Ynez Valley, Solvang, and SLO than LA, so I understand that argument, but technically, it is the northernmost part of SoCal.

They changed the beginning of the rainy season from from July 1 to Oct 1 about 7-10 years ago.

yeah, its funny how folks in NorCal and SoCal see things differently.........From our point of view Santa Barbara is way the friggin down there, but all the years I lived in LA and SD, folks always thought of Santa Barbara as SoCal. It's just 45 mins to 1 hr from downtown LA and its associated with Ventura County, and many other northern LA territories like from Simi Valley into Ventura County coastal cities.

Any coastal place below Point Concepcion is the SoCal Coast and that definitely includes Santa Barbara.

San Luis Obispo-Pismo beach is the true area that divides NorCal-Central Coast from SoCal on the Coast. That area truly has both elements of NorCal-Central Coast and SoCal.

The Central Coast is Monterey to San Luis Obispo. Monterey Bay divides the NorCal coast from the Central Coast. On the northern tip of Monterey Bay you have Santa Cruz, a NorCal town. On the southern tip of Monterey Bay you have Monterey, a Central Coast town. I often hear SoCal folks talking about the Monterey-Carmel as the North Coast, but for anyone from SF Bay Area, Sacramento, Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt Del Norte Counties, Monterey is thought of as primarily the Central Coast.

I have lived here since 2003 after fleeing my hometown LA and I couldn't agree more.
