Yeah I’d love to have a winter beach house in Florida or time share to spend cold winters there. Moar reason to find a new remote based gig.

Through 2 pm today, Downtown Sacramento has continued to avoid measurable rain.

It's now been 56 days since the city has observed at least 0.01" of rain. #CAwx https://t.co/dV8Hh9mrNw

Here we go again

We got like 1.4 inches of rain in August/September, chim. That's why the lawns turned green after our first October rain. Pray for more rain, need an April miracle. Ttyl

Just telling you what NOAA said(edit: most cities use the main airport as the official/news temp)

Good. Hope there's room for them.
The only reason I would doubt those recent wind chills is bc California virtually never gets freezing temps accompanied by wind -- almost exclusively (and during recent cold snaps), we get radiational cooling from clear, calm conditions. So the wind chill should be identical to the air temperature.

There was rain in Sacramento in August? Looking at the history, it doesn't look like it -- 21 days were above 90f, ten of those over 95f, and six of those above 100f. Was there monsoon last summer?

For September, I see similar temps which would not suggest any out-of-season cold fronts -- 15 days above 90f, five above 100f, and only two below 80f (but close).

Please jog our memories as to the circumstances around that warm summer rain?

So for fun, I just tallied up last year's number of 90f days in Sacramento as per AccuWeather, and I was shocked that there were 90 days reported at 90f or above, with the earliest in April and the latest on October. That seems much higher than average to me; of course, even a one or two degree difference could add many such days that would otherwise top out just short of that benchmark, so it may not have been that perceptible.

20 days reported at least 100f, with the earliest in May and the latest in September.

The earliest 70f temperature was on January 16 and the latest on December 1st, meaning there were highs of at least 70f reported in every month of the year.

The coldest temperature was 27f on January 26th and was the only morning low below 30f. Six nights reported 32f or colder. Seven days failed to reach 50f, though these were not necessarily associated with the coldest nights, which suggests they could have been tule fog days.

All in all, an interesting snapshot into how much more Sacramento's climate is skewed towards the warmer than the colder end of temperatures compared to much of the country, making it IMO still an under-the-radar climactic gem of our state (although our friends from Oakland who moved there last spring found the heat really difficult you adjust to).

NOAA data says that winds 7 mph+ increase windchill quite a bit. Winds 5mph or less barely do anything to windchill. Sac international was getting 7mph winds in the morning. Fresno got 5mph or less those days. If I recall correctly, the afternoon got windy for both cities, Fresno just lucked out in the morning.
